The Corvette Assembly Plant participated this week in the rollout of the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray by showing off the car to select outsiders that included board members and some staff at the National Corvette Museum. We got these photos thanks to Mark Gearhart who posted them on MidEngineCorvetteForum.com.

The 2024 E-Ray was shown inside the plant and it was parked in front of an E-Ray banner.

The Red Mist Convertible is outfitted with the polished five-spoke wheels, bright E-Ray badging and exhaust tips, Black Nacelles and Roof, and Edge Red brake calipers. Inside the car we see the 3LZ dipped Natural Interior.

In a recent interview with The Detroit News, Executive Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter explained how the E-Ray’s mission is much different than that of the new 2023 Corvette Z06:

It’s a different mission than the Z06. Even though it is similarly priced, it represents a different value proposition. We’ve long heard from customers they really want AWD to make it a three-or-even-four-season car. We weren’t able to do that with front-engine architecture, but with mid-engine architecture, that freed up space to enable us to do it.

Starting at the inception of the C8, we thought an electrified front axle was the way to go. It’s compact, and gives us a lot of efficiency. It’s independent of GM’s commitment to zero-emissions. We thought this would be a good idea and pleasing to customers. And it brings a new, higher-level of thinking to the Corvette. The Z06 is mission specific: it’s focused on the track experience, whereas the E-Ray is an all-arounder.

We like to say the Z06 is the scalpel — a sharp instrument for a specific purpose. E-Ray is more of a Swiss Army knife — it’s good at all sorts of things. It’s capable on track, but a great daily driver, and it’s great in inclement weather. (It’s) a car for anyone who wants an all-around daily driver.

  1. Hey there, does this beautiful Corvette have a different front lower valance/splitter as in the side front view it looks very custom and deeper than typical Stingray or Z06. This new front end may actually be production status instead of what the intro Corvette E-Ray models from Tuesday had in all of the videos and photos from Michigan.

I will definitely be ordering this perfect color combination in my E-Ray Convertible Super Corvette.

BTW, here in Scottsdale at Barrett-Jackson, I’m waiting on the local news to show an E-Ray that will become the usual 1st production model for Mr. Rick to purchase for 4.5 million dollars U.S. as he keeps going up in bid values each year. How much could he do in his hometown with that much money? A new school, a playground, or an entire park. Oh well.

Corvettes with all wheel drive will conquer the World!

  2. This red car has the standard splitter…same on the Z06. An optional more aggressive one is available but no canards. This is also how I would order my car except maybe not dipped Natural interior. I would also have to paint the body color pieces black as they should be.
