Corvettes for Sale: 4,600-Mile 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with ZTK on Bring a Trailer

If ever there was an instant collectible right off the showroom floor, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 has to be it.

After all, like the highly desirable 1963 split-window coupe, the C7 ZR1 was produced for just one year. But while the ’63 had four more versions of the C2 following it minus the controversial split, the C7 ZR1 was truly the absolute last of the front-engine Corvettes, and not only that ranks as the most powerful sports car ever built by General Motors with 755 horsepower. It’s also easy to live with on a daily basis, with its eight-speed automatic transmission and other modern amenities.

What’s not to like about all that if you’re a collector?

Furthermore, only 2,953 of these cars were built, including this slightly soiled 2019 ZR1 that roared onto the market a few days ago on Bring a Trailer. With six days left in the auction, the high bid has already soared to $142,000 (about $22,000 higher than the base price of $119,995), with even Gas Monkey Garage’s Richard Rawlings getting into the action with an earlier offer of $125,000. Will this car become a TV star?

This Watkins Glen Gray Metallic coupe is one of just 102 examples built, so if that happens to be your color of choice, you might want to start talking to your banker today to secure funding because it’ll likely get harder and harder to find one in this shade in the coming years.

While this car looks to be in top-notch condition, ironically the discerning collector might turn his nose up at it since the single owner has actually used the car for the purpose GM made it: that is, driving it on the road! While it’s showing just 4,600 miles on the odometer, picky collectors would likely prefer a car with just a few miles showing when it left the Bowling Green factory.

Like more than 93 percent of its brethren, this ZR1 is equipped with the $10,000 3ZR package that includes Napa leather power seats, power heated outside mirrors, sueded microfiber-wrapped upper trim package, custom leather-wrapped instrument panel and doors, heated and ventilated seats, premium audio system, performance data and video recorder with navigation, front curb view cameras, high-gloss carbon fiber instrument panel, carbon fiber leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more.

TITLE

Only 29.9 percent of the ZR1s were equipped with the seven-speed manual transmission, and this isn’t one of those. Like 70.1 of them, this car instead has the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Other equipment includes the ZTK Track Performance Package, Magnetic Ride Control, staggered-diameter aluminum wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with blue calipers, head-up display, Bluetooth connectivity, and Bose stereo.’

In its review of the ZR1 upon its debut, MotorTrend summed it up this way:

Things happen quickly in the ZR1 and there is no chance of running out of car before you run out of road. It may not produce the acceleration numbers of an all-wheel-drive Tesla Model S Performance, but the violence of internal combustion in the Corvette augments its own sensation of speed to produce a far more visceral drive.

Sitting behind the wheel of a ZR1 is an experience not likely to happen again, with the carbon-fiber engine cover protruding through a cut-out in the carbon-fiber hood to show all the world this car means business! Speaking of carbon fiber, the car also includes carbon fiber rocker panel trim, front splitter and end-plates, fender vents, rear quarter panel trim, and adjustable rear wing.

All in all, the ZR1 is a truly remarkable car, and we salute the person who eventually is fortunate enough to wind up with this one.

Ironically, though, the base model C8 is faster to 60 miles per hour than the outgoing king, at about half of the cost. So, which one would you rather have in your garage?

  1. I owned a 2019 ZR1 (469) & since have owned a ’21 Z51 & ’22 GTLM (047) with a ’23 Z51 in the que to be built and as much as I enjoyed each one all I can really say for sure is:

    “COME ON ZORA”

  2. Excellent write up Mitch.
So if it is a C7 you are possibly seeking, I have a 2015 ZO6 convertible that I am going to sell to someone who appreciates fine Corvettes.
If you would like to send me your email I shall send you some info.
    Respectfully, Kurt R.
