[SPIED] Here's a Cold Start from a 2023 Corvette Z06 in the Snow


A Torch Red 2023 Corvette Z06 in standard configuration was captured on video by a gent named Reese Capone and it’s an interesting one, to say the least. First things first, it’s great to see the C8 in some different colors and a Torch Red C8Z against a backdrop of freshly fallen snow is something to see. We may have seen this particular Torch Red Z06 previously in Detroit, and this one was spotted parked outside a Leo’s Coney Island restaurant of which there are more than a few locations in the Detroit area.

Reese does a nice walk around the car and checks out some of the different equipment on the car. No Z07 package for this car as we can see the smaller brake rotors and of course there is no corresponding aero kit on the car either. As he is going around the car, we hear the driver starting up the car as it sits in the snow. Reese continues his walk around the car as the driver is waiting for the windows to defrost.

But perhaps the biggest item that needs to be addressed on this plastic fantastic is the corner-mounted exhaust. We’ve seen these cars following the Z06 reveal in October when it was learned that the corner-mounted exhaust mules are older versions that were completed before the center-mounted trumpet design was completed. However, this is the first time a corner-mounted exhaust car was seen with a painted exterior vs the camo wrap that has become so familiar over the years.

And before you say “E-Ray”, it would be highly, highly unusual for Chevy to be testing a future variant in public without camo, let alone the fact that it’s wearing specific Z06 wheels. The E-Ray may be a widebody, but it certainly won’t be wearing the exact same body as the Z06. We expect differences in the two cars that may include different takes on the side-intake scoop and the front fascia.

Now that we’ve seen this car with the exhaust set-up, I am going to throw out a Z06 rumor I heard from a trusted person a couple months back that I have been unable to confirm with anyone else. The rumor goes that the reason we are still seeing corner-mounted exhaust Z06 prototypes is that this is the exhaust set-up the Z06s will have in Europe. Whether or not that is true is something we will have to wait and see, and personally, we hope this rumor is false. If you know anything about the corner-mounted exhaust Z06 mules, let us know!

  6. The contoured nose is a Z06, what a shame to leave a brand new Z06 in the snow. My 2021 stingray is inside away from the snow and will never touch snow. Sadly was caught in the rain a couple times lol.

  9. Wheels, boomerang intakes, and notched nose, definitely a Z06. Lacking a spoiler though.
