Corvettes are an international language, you might say.

While we don’t speak a word of Norwegian, we still were able to tell from the smiles and enthusiastic sounds of the guys in this video showing the first C8 Corvette delivered in Norway, that they were thrilled with the car.

Maybe they weren’t the ones who were having to foot the bill for this 2020 black-on-black Stingray since it sold for the princely sum of $277,966.

We’re not sure what the actual MSRP of this car was, though a little sleuthing by carefully watching the accompanying video shows it to be a base model, probably 2LT, with upgraded black wheels but no front end lift and no high wing spoiler.

Our biggest question after seeing the video, however, is how the driver managed to get into this Stingray in the first place before he backed it out of a cramped trailer – with the roof panel still in place! It seems like the door wouldn’t open wide enough to allow entry, but apparently, it did.

Based on our research, Norway apparently charges “extraordinary taxes on expensive, gas thirsty vehicles,” though we’d be hard-pressed to call the new C8 gas thirsty since we managed an impressive 28.5 mpg on our 200-mile trip from Bowling Green to Georgia a couple of weeks ago.

Musclecarsandtrucks.com reports that they found this 2020 Stingray on a Facebook post linked to an article by the Norwegian auto sales and news site Broom, which claims it became the first C8 in Norway after a four-week boat ride across the Atlantic. And we Americans grow frantic while we wait for our Stingrays just to be trucked around the nation from Bowling Green!

Since foreign deliveries aren’t supposed to be made until the 2021 model year, this one likely took quite a bit of extra effort. Apparently, a Norwegian dealer known as CarFreaks imported the car for its customer after engaging in negotiations with a U.S. dealer last summer after the reveal.

Our best wishes to this new Corvette owner, who now has perhaps the most uncommon car in his country!

  1. I guess in Norway, when it comes to price, the Corvette isn’t the working man’s car, like in the US.

  2. Ronnie: if the buyer was willing to pay 300 grand for the car, I don’t suppose he will care much about paying a few bucks of warranty cost if necessary.
