This Guest Post contributed by Marshall Fancher, Editor of www.VetteNVestments.com

This was the 28th year of the always spectacular Dana Mecum Annual Spring Classic Auction at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. A total of 1,329 cars crossed the block. 783 of those cars found new owners. This equates to a respectable 58% sell through rate for the overall auction.

Mecum does a fantastic job at creating excitement about special cars, and they did not disappoint. These cars did what we thought were very strong and honest prices, considering the fantastic quality of each example.

[VIDEO] Late Model Racecraft Restomods a 1958 Corvette with an LS7 V8

There is just something that excites us when we see a well-done Corvette restomod. Some builds like to keep the stock look of the exterior while dropping in a monster V8 under the hood. We’ll this restomod built by the pros at Late Model Racecraft isn’t one of those.

Unique Golden Anniversary 1958 Corvette to Cross the Block at Mecum Indy

Of the many Corvettes that will be offered at Dana Mecum’s Indianapolis sale next week, this 1958 Corvette stands in a class all its own.

Two things were going on back in 1958 when this Corvette was made. First the redesigned 1958 Corvette wore more chrome than any another Corvette that came before and secondly, it was Chevrolet’s 50th Anniversary.

To commemorate Chevrolet’s Golden Anniversary, a 1958 Corvette roadster was pulled from the production line and painted a special one-of-one “Anniversary Gold”. That Corvette would be designated as Chevrolet’s 39,000,000 vehicle produced.

[PIC] Throwback Thursday: Motor Trend Tests the 1958 Corvette

It’s time for Throwback Thursday where we feature vintage photos of Corvettes. In 1958, Chevrolet rolled out a major update on its now five year old sports car and like the 2014 Corvette Stingray, the press was eager to get their hands on it to see what it could do.

Motor Trend was lucky to score three 1958 Corvettes which are shown here at Buttonwillow Raceway with the MT crew getting ready to put the car through its paces.
