Corvettes for Sale: LT5-Powered 1958 Corvette Restomod

Quick – tell us where the taillights are on this 1958 Corvette restomod.

If you have trouble spotting them, don’t worry. They’re just one of the many cool features about this vintage C1.

In one of the videos promoting the car on Bring a Trailer, where it’s being auctioned off, the seller explains that the taillights are LEDs hidden under two coats of base coat, a process he says took a lot of hours to perfect and one that he’s not willing to share with the public.

In any regard, they definitely make the rear end of this Corvette unlike any we’ve seen over the years.

But there’s a lot more to this car than the back end. The owner obtained it in 2017 as an unfinished project and promptly sent it to Automotion Classics in Troy, New York for tons of work that was completed in time for a debut at the 2018 SEMA show in Las Vegas.

Our favorite feature is the 5.7-liter LT5 DOHC V8 engine (like those found in the C7 Z06). Other mechanical highlights include a custom chassis with front and rear suspension components from the C4, QA1 adjustable coilovers, C5 disc brakes, Holley HP EFI system, TCI 6X six-speed automatic transmission, Dana 44 rear axle with limited-slip differential, power brake system, power steering, custom dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, and 18-inch and 19-inch Intro Wheels inside Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires (225/40 front and 325/40 rear).

The red paint shines brilliantly, and the body features a frameless windshield, shaved fuel door, cove moldings, custom chrome rear bumpers, and Sick HID headlights.

The tan leather upholstery, meanwhile, adds a nice touch, with a Budnik steering wheel, PCS push-button transmission controller, Dakota Digital instruments, Vintage Air climate control, machined trim and speaker grilles, door poppers, lap belts, trunk-mounted concealed subwoofers, Alpine infotainment system and speakers, and a fuel filler concealed under a panel near the trunk latch.

This car is definitely a “sunny day only” vehicle as it doesn’t have a roof or side windows.

There’s no telling how much the seller has invested in this car, but so far the high bid is just $46,666, with five days left in the auction. What would your best offer be?
