Corvettes for sale: No Reserve 1958 Corvette on eBay

A lot of the heavy lifting has already been done on this 1958 Corvette convertible, one of 9,168 built that year, and now its owner is looking for someone else to roll it across the finish line.

This vintage C1 Corvette is being offered at no reserve on eBay, and 45 bids have already been placed, reaching a peak of $35,300.01 so far, with the auction closing on Thursday night.

According to the listing, the previous owner tackled the body and interior. Indeed, the classic red paint with white coves looks nice, and the rear trunk spears are said to be inside the trunk, along with the glass for the doors. The frame for the convertible top is in place, but it’ll need a new cover.

Meanwhile, the only things that seem to be keeping the red interior from being done are the faded passenger grab bar that looks to still be original and the dash pad that looks new but has a little wrinkle on one edge. Otherwise, the seat covers, carpet, and door panels are already in top-notch condition.

Under the hood is where this car will need attention. The seller doesn’t offer much information about the incomplete V8 engine in place, but he does say the car rolls and steers. If the motor and four-speed manual transmission are numbers-matching original, it could be worth putting on the final touches on it, but if not, the new owner could have an opportunity to head off in the restomod direction with a more powerful later-model Corvette setup.

Where would you head with this car?

  1. I agree to restomodding it, no matter what you see c1 have become more popular and more valuable as Resto mods ,changing the brakes and giving it a more modern feel behind the wheel is an advantage for resale as well as driving, the LS engine it’s so easy to come by now it’s actually cheap to do it that way.i could go on.an on.
