Last week, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute released a report on Insurance Loss for vehicles built between 2007-2009. Surprising just about everybody but us, it turns out Corvette owners average the lowest insurance losses.
Chevy dropped a preview video of some of the cars and trucks being prepped for the 2010 SEMA show. While most of the focus is on Camaros, wheels and really big bow-tie truck grills, we came across a black Corvette with Jake on the hood. But that’s not all we found when we slowed the video down.
Thanks to Corvette Conti, we have a couple of charts detailing 2011 model year Corvette production. Buyers are still flocking to the Grand Sport models which combined, makes up 54% of total Corvette production. As far as popular colors, the numbers are following the recent trend of Black being the most popular choice followed by the two Reds and Cyber Gray.
Most Corvette owners would probably never let a man they met while drinking at a bar drive their Corvette. But if you’re on vacation and the Corvette was a rental, well hey, that’s a different story. I mean, what’s the worse that could happen?
This morning found me up before the sun cruising across Tampa Bay to the duPont Registry’s Cars and Coffee meet in St. Petersburg. Florida. The monthly get-together keeps growing and as such there is a ton of eye candy for our viewing pleasure. The earliest Corvette we found was a silver 1964 Coupe and the latest model was a 2010 supercharged Callaway Corvette. Check out our gallery of photos after the jump.
We got a little bit of drama happening to one of our Corvette brothers in the Netherlands. CF Forum Member Twin_Turbo had dropped his C6 Corvette off at the Koenen automotive dealership for the roof recall and then received a call that the car had been involved in an accident. While we’ve heard the story before of service technicians joyriding in customer cars, this Corvette crash was caused by none other than the owner of the dealership himself.
Corvette Racing’s C6.R and a 2011 Supersonic Blue Corvette ZR1 are sharing the stage at the Paris Motor Show. Chevrolet is using the display to show visitors how technology gleaned from racing makes a better street car. Check out a couple pictures and the official press release highlighting the track to street technology transfer after the jump.
Italian tuner Romeo Ferraris can usually be found tuning Alfa Romeo Mito’s or the Mercedes C63 AMG but that doesn’t mean they don’t have Corvettes on the brain. Last week they unveiled a new package for the American-made Chevrolet Corvette Z06 which boosts the horsepower to levels greater than the ZR1.
We got a two-fer to go with yesterday’s story of a C6 Corvette crashing into an Emmy-award winning puppeteer’s home. This accident features a black 2007 Corvette driven by 75-year-old Carl Sloan of Morgan Hill, CA. Sloan and 58 year old Teenie Denise were cruising the parking lot of a local Wal-Mart when the car suddenly accelerated and crashed into the front of the store. The cause of the accident may have been due to a medical condition. Both went to the hospital and will be okay. The Corvette? Not so much…
