[PIC] A Digital Artist Creates a New C9 Corvette Rendering Based on the CX Concept

This morning we caught a new “future C9 Corvette” rendering and thought it was worthy of sharing here. The post comes from Instagram but the URL shown as a watermark isn’t working and a Google search returns zero results for any close matches.

The artist chose the Corvette CX and CX.V concepts as the basis for the design. It’s the concept that we think has some of the best design elements that can be translated into a working production car.

Starting at the front, this rendering keeps the huge openings in the front fascia of the car for airflow and the hood also appears to have a pass-through radiator mounted in the center just like the current ZR1/ZR1X models.

We also absolutely love the huge arches on the front wheels that provides plenty of vibes of C2/C3 Corvettes.

As we move further back, we start to get some distance from the official concept. The side intakes on the CX and CX.R are positioned lower than the side-air intakes shown in the rendering. That opening is more centrally located and appears more of an evolutionary update to the current side intakes as opposed to sides of the C9 getting a whole new look of the CX concepts.

The glass canopy with the small black A-pillars is a design element that we would love to carried over to the production C9s. But pulling off a wrap-around windshield and side glass could be asking too much for a production sports car.

The design is finished with a large ZR1-style wing on the rear, and we note that the car also has understated aero in the form of the front spiller and side rockers that have an upturned wing at the rear. One of the questions we have is if Chevy Engineers will embrace active aero technology on the new car or continue with the cheaper fixed aero elements that were included on the C8s.
