[VIDEO] He Worked With 5 Presidents...Then Bought his 1st Corvette at 95 Years Old!

For anyone who thinks they might be “too old” for a Corvette, meet Mr. Smith — a 95-year-old retired U.S. Capitol Police officer who just bought his first Corvette ever, a 2026 C8 Stingray.

His story, shared in a recent YouTube video by CGarnerSpeed252, has quickly become a reminder that passion doesn’t come with an expiration date.

Mr. Smith has lived nearly a century, worked around five U.S. Presidents, including Ronald Reagan, and witnessed more American history than most of us will ever read about. But nothing lit up his face quite like the moment he started talking about his new Corvette.

“I’m 95 years old,” he said proudly, standing beside his white Stingray. “And I love it.”

Despite a lifetime around classic American cars, Mr. Smith never owned a Corvette until now. When asked why he finally pulled the trigger, his answer was simple:

“I bought it because I like it.”

He chose an Arctic White coupe with a transparent roof, Jet Black interior, and black wheels — a clean, modern spec that he says fits him perfectly. He doesn’t need a convertible, he joked, because “as you get older, you don’t want too much wind.”

He keeps the top on, keeps the car in the garage, and keeps the miles low — just 5,000 so far — but he enjoys every minute behind the wheel.

Before retirement, Mr. Smith spent his career protecting members of Congress and working around the White House. Reagan was one of the presidents he encountered, though he spent most of his time assigned to congressional duties.

Now, his days are quieter. He doesn’t drive the Corvette in the rain, avoids snow, and sticks to the speed limit.

“That’s for the young guys,” he laughed. “But I can use it if I want to.”

His 64-year-old son — a retired aeronautical engineer who once worked for Rolls Royce — also gets to drive the car. “He can handle it,” Mr. Smith said with a grin.

Unlike many Corvette owners, Mr. Smith isn’t interested in modifications or upgrades.

“I like it the way it is,” he said. “Chevy got it right.”

He loves the GT2 seats, the carbon fiber trim, the heated and cooled seating, and the front lift system he uses for his driveway. He even demonstrated that the rear cargo area can fit a set of golf clubs — though he admits he’s “not very good” at the game.

When asked to rate the car, he didn’t hesitate.

“Ten out of ten,” he said. Then he corrected himself. “Eleven.”

Anywhere he parks the Corvette, people gather around it.

“Everybody loves this car,” he said. “It draws a crowd.”

And at 95, he’s not done enjoying it.

“If they come out with something better, maybe,” he said. “But I can’t see that.”

For now, the white Stingray stays — a dream car decades in the making, finally realized by a man who proves you’re never too old to chase what you love.

I just turned 85 and purchased a 2026 Mist Red Metallic LT2 VET. My wife and I are having a ball, I know how he feels driving it and the enjoyment he receives. It’s taking some time to navigate all the technology since my last Vet was a 69 Vet, but life is good, and our license plate reads “WHY NOT”. We be Vetin untill were called by the Man upstairs… We may be old but we still live life to the fullest, see you at the strip, youngins like Raylan.

Hope I can still push the clutch pedal when I get up in years. Recently had a hip replacement and since it is easier to get in my Corvette and RCF.
