Mecum Auctions rides $441 million of Kissimmee momentum west next month for their annual Glendale event in Arizona. The sale is expected to draw 2,000 vehicles over the course of its 5-day run March 17th – 21st. Mecum’s famous red carpet will be rolled out inside the State Farm Stadium as eager bidders seek out their next dream ride.
As we assemble this preview, we see 64 Corvettes already consigned to the Glendale auction. We expect many more to be added in the weeks leading up to the sale. The current docket spans 70 years of Corvette and includes all 8 generations. It’s bookended perfectly by an award winning 1953 roadster on the early end and a matching 2023 white on red 2023 Z06 convertible on the late-model end of the spectrum.
Here’s a look at how the Glendale Corvette docket currently breaks down by Corvette generation:
As expected, we see a fantastic mix of unrestored Corvettes, cool customs, daily drivers, and factory-correct restored masterpieces. We’re always fond of Corvette special editions and Glendale already has several on the growing docket. If you like the anniversary cars, check out the Top Flight winning 40th anniversary convertible or the 4k-mile 1978 25th anniversary edition. Pace car fans will be drawn to the Dark Red 1986 convertible being offered at No Reserve and the 6k-mile, 6-speed transmission 1998 pace car convertible. Lastly, the 2007 Ron Fellows Edition Z06 and 2013 427 Collector Edition Convertible represent the best Corvette’s 6th generation.
Those who covet the C3 LT1-powered Corvettes have 4 options in Glendale. The red on black 1971 coupe hails from the Retro Garage collection and the Targa Blue 1972 convertible comes from the McColman collection. In addition to those, bidders can compete for the white over black 1972 coupe and the 1971 Warbonnet Yellow over Saddle coupe.
We can’t forget the King of the Hill and Mecum has two for us on tap in Glendale. The Torch Red over black 1994 model has just 13k miles on the odometer while the Sebring Orange 2019 ZR1 coupe shows just 4,400 miles from new.
Mecum always has a stellar lineup of C1’s and C2’s at each sale and that continues at Glendale with nearly half of current docket built in 1967 or earlier. Some of the opportunities here include a creative wire frame 1963 custom coupe, a big block Mosport Green convertible, and a timeless Venetian Red 1957 roadster.
