Friday, February 27th was the day General Motors had designated for emersion in its latest and, quite literally, greatest creation. First drives of the 1,250-horsepower Corvette ZR1X, the hybrid monster that Crossed Flags faithful have been chomping at the bit for, are finally here!
The “X” hyper ‘Vette is the biggest, baddest, and most complex Corvette (and, arguably, consumer product) of all time. In those respects, it’s safe to say that the YouTube channel Savage Geese published the ZR1X of all ZR1X reviews released so far.
Weighing in just one Nurburgring lap shy of an hour, the SG video is certainly the biggest, and just one minute in, the city-destroying, fire breathing CGI “GooseZilla” animation lets you know that the channel famous for attention to detail meant business during its ZR1X filming window.
As we’ve come to expect, this massive undertaking was done in a way that almost feels unnatural for the anything and anyone goes wild-west of YouTube, SG’s work looks and feels more like a big-budget 60-Minutes/History Channel special or a theatre-worthy documentary. The 53-minute exploration includes the same kind of driving and testing action as everyone else, but also features in-depth technical breakdowns (the new brakes that took six(!) years to perfect were our favorite bit), sit-down interviews with the team behind every aspect of the ZR1X’s unlikely being, track work, driving impressions, and more!
Don’t let us keep you, this one’s a must watch! Enjoy this moment Corvette fans, we know we already are!
