Corvettes for Sale: 1972 Corvette Project Offered at No Reserve on Bring a Trailer

This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette coupe, wearing its age honestly and carrying decades of stories in its worn fiberglass, has surfaced as a no reserve auction project on Bring a Trailer—opening at just $1,000 with six days left on the clock.

The car, a non running C3 Corvette with a partially disassembled 350ci V8, hasn’t turned a wheel under its own power in more than 10 years. But for the right buyer, it’s a blank canvas with all the right bones: a classic chrome bumper Corvette, a clean Florida title, and a pile of removed parts ready to be sorted, restored, or replaced. If you’re skeptical, just remember that only 20,496 T-top coupes left the St. Louis factory in ’72.

The coupe’s body shows its share of imperfections, and the seller has included photos of the damage along with the uninstalled trim, cowl grilles, and removable roof panels.

Rolling stock comes in the form of 15-inch Rally wheels wrapped in 225/75 Valera tires. Underneath, the car retains its fully independent suspension and power assisted disc brakes, a setup that made these Corvettes capable handlers in their day.

Inside, the cabin is very much a project. A set of aftermarket blue bucket seats remain, but the carpets are gone, and several interior components show wear or damage. The removed door panels come with the car, along with an aftermarket cassette stereo that hints at a previous owner’s attempt to modernize the soundtrack.

Under the hood sits a partially disassembled 350 V8, complete with a four barrel carburetor and Edelbrock EPS intake manifold. Aftermarket valve covers are included, and the drivetrain retains its three speed automatic transmission and Positraction limited slip differential.

The selling dealer, who acquired the car in 2025, says the Corvette came from an 80 year old collector who never completed the restoration. According to the seller, the car last ran more than a decade ago, though it was reportedly operational when the previous owner first purchased it many years earlier.

“I have T tops for it and a bunch of extra parts,” the seller notes. “It’s a project—has not run in over 10 years—but it’s a great foundation or LS swap candidate.”

As with any classic Corvette project, opinions online range from sympathetic to enthusiastic:

“Poor Corvette. I feel sorry for it,” one commenter wrote.

“A perfect blank canvas for something really cool,” another countered.

“LS would be cool. As would a 427 small block,” added a third.

And perhaps the most relatable comment of all: “Just in time for your tax refund check to arrive.”

With its chrome bumpers, unmistakable silhouette, and a trove of included parts, this 1972 Corvette coupe is exactly the kind of project that draws dreamers, builders, and weekend wrench turners. Whether it becomes a faithful restoration, a restomod, or a wild LS powered street machine, the next chapter is up to whoever wins the auction.

For now, the car sits quietly—blue paint dulled, engine in pieces, interior waiting for attention—ready for someone to bring it back to life. Are you the one?
