This is a quick pricing update on two different posts that we recently shared with the Corvette Nation! Keep reading as we finally have the price for the C8 Engine Build Program, as well as an update on the Scrape Armor Grille Guards and the recent Grille Protection Package that includes both the front and side intake grille screens that will have you questioning GM’s math skills.
With the 1-of-1 ZR1X offered for sale at Barrett-Jackson – and selling for $2.6 Million – GM also offered as this cool perk to the prize package: The winner will be able to hand-assemble their very own LT7 V8 engine with a GM technician prior to having the engine installed in the ZR1X as it goes down the assembly line.
Yes, GM is bringing back the Engine Build Experience for buyers of the Z06, ZR1, and the new ZR1X. While GM has already put some of this info out into the wild, the one thing that was missing was the cost of option code PBC. Previous Engine Build Experiences for the C6 and C7 Corvettes were priced at $5,000 but so far, no official pricing has been released from GM.
Luckily, that hasn’t stopped our friend Rick Conti who as a Chevrolet sales rep has access to the internal pricing pages. This morning Rick discovered that the new PBC Engine Build Experience for the C8 Corvette performance cars has been updated and the program will now cost $9,995.
Previously the Engine Build Program featured a full day at the Performance Build Center inside the Corvette Assembly Plant and there the buyer would work alongside a GM engine builder to hand assemble their engines. Once completed a special plaque with the buyer’s name is put on it, and then it will eventually go into the customer’s car once its been scheduled for production. The day also included lunch and photos from the experience which we would think would still be included in this newest version of the program.
GM hasn’t yet announced when the Engine Build Experience will start up, but indications are sometime in the Spring of 2026.
Our second update is about the Scrape Armor Grille Screens and there are several pieces of news all tied up in this one story. As we mentioned in our blog post earlier this month, GM has finally added the Scrape Armor side intake screens to C8 ordering and that LPO code is VWT which will cost $725 as a standalone option. GM also has the VWE option which offers the Scrape Armor Grille Screens on the front of the car to protect the front radiators from getting dinged up. That stand alone option will cost you $650. When ordered on a new Corvette, both of these dealer-installed options will be added to the customers car during PDI (pre-delivery inspection) with no additional cost for the installation.
GM also has a special package which combines both of the Scrape Armor grille screens under one LPO Code: PCQ. This package is called the Grille Screen Protection Package and it retails for $1,650. But looking at the individual pricing for the two options, it’s cheaper to keep them separate as the combined price is $1,375 versus the $1,650 for the PCQ package. Both are still installed during the PDI, but now you’re saving $275 with this “ordering hack.”
The other “big” news regarding the Scrape Armor grille screens is that they will soon be available for the ordering on the ZR1 and the ZR1X, as well as through Chevrolet Accessories with GM part number 19434021. GM has added the VWT, VWE, and PCQ RPOs to the ZR1 and ZR1X Order Guide this week as well, so check with your dealers for availability. Previously, they were limited to Z06/E-Ray for the widebody versions while a Stingray version is also available. These are an option that we highly recommend, as the front fascia does have to be removed to install the screens.
Here is a quick video filmed by Rick Conti today so he could share these latest updates with our readers.
