[VIDEO] Corvette Racing's Tommy Milner Hot Laps the C8 Corvette Z06 at the NCM Motorsports Park

The NCM Motorsports Park just held their very first Corvette Racing Fantasy Camp at the track which gave participants an opportunity to learn all aspects of running a racing team. One of the special guests to be there was Corvette Racing ace driver Tommy Miler who was more than happy to provide some hot laps for those at the camp.

One of those participants was Korey @ Paragon Performance who got one of the last rides of the day. “I hear you are the fast one,” says Korey as they leave Pit Lane and head out on the course. The shadows were getting long on the track and the sun was dropping fast in the western skies. But all that doesn’t matter when you’re riding shotgun in the 670-hp Corvette Z06 with a pro driver showing you how it’s done.

During the run, we see the speeds of the C8 Corvette Z06 reach into the 130s as Milner expertly pilots the car around the MSP’s challenging corners and through the Sinkhole feature which drops you down nearly three stories before putting you back on the long straight that runs in front of the tower. Tommy looked at ease behind the wheel and not one time did the car ever seem to step out or get squirrely as it was incredibly planted as it ripped through the turns.

After the run is completed, Korey asks for Milner’s professional advice on what he thinks about the street-version of the C8 Z06. Milner responds, “I mean, so we’ve been driving these cars not 10/10ths, but pretty darn hard for about an hour now,” says Tommy. “And the way that the car feels now is the same as it as it felt when I first went out. So, it’s pretty impressive that you can beat the cars this hard and they still provide you the same performance over and over and over and over again.”

NCM’s Pratt Miller Racing Fantasy Camp was a great event. Getting to talk with Tommy Milner and Alex Sims as well as several of the race team members such as Team Manager Ben Bode and Crew Chief Tim Kavanagh was a great way to learn more about Corvette Racing than what you’ll hear during race broadcasts. My hot lap was with Alex Sims and was the highlight of the event. He and Tommy might not have been going 10/10ths but they were darn close to it.
