I’ve been around Corvettes long enough to remember when an immaculate, low-mileage 1969 Corvette could be purchased for $3,600 or even less.
Unfortunately, those days are long gone.
Try multiplying that number by 10, and you’ll wind up with the $36,000 asking price of this ’69 Stingray coupe currently being offered on Craigslist out of the North Denver area.
Originally one of the 10,351 Corvettes built that year with the optional L36 427/390 horsepower V8 engine, this car is still a big-block – but now under the hood is a replacement 454 said to have been rebuilt.
If you’re interested in a driver that you can enjoy and not get manic over picking up a chip or scratch, this might be the car for you.
“The vehicle has typical normal wear and use for a 56-year-old car,” the seller says, “and is priced accordingly.”
He calls the car “a 20 footer with imperfections, scratches and chips” that has been repainted at least once in the original shade of Cortez Silver.
But on the brighter side, the Saddle leather bucket seats and carpet have already been refreshed, and the speedometer, odometer, tachometer, and gauges are still functional – even the usually dead-by-now clock.
It’s also nicely equipped for the era with power brakes, power steering, Positraction 3.36 rear axle, Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, front fender louver trim, and AM/FM stereo radio.
Says the seller, who’s parting with the car to free up garage space: “This is an opportunity for the individual who has always desired to have one without breaking the bank for a high end restoration. The new owner will have the option to use it as is or take it to a higher level if he/she so desires.”
He considers this vintage chrome-bumper C3 to be “a decent driver” great for a weekend joy ride, a trip to the drive-in, or a cruise night with the local car club.

Fairly nice car and priced about right for a 4 speed, except it ain’t a 4 speed. That auto box knocks a ton of value off of it.
Ya I agree I personally would rather have a 4speed, I guess it depends on if it really sets you back in your seat. Also wondering if the cockpit gets outrageously hot while driving
It’s interesting that they replaced the original 427 with a 454, but they left the 427 hood emblems and air cleaner decal.
The 1969 Corvette did not have the 1970 rear wheel well flairs, the severe crash that was noted in the description, that is incorrect.
