This low-mileage big-block survivor convertible will have you breaking out the bell-bottoms all over again.
Sold new at one of the top dealers in the nation – Harry Mann Chevrolet in Los Angeles, this 1970 Corvette has since been driven just 30,865 miles and still has its mojo, having just picked up a trophy for Best in Class Corvette hat a recent show.
Better yet, this ‘Vette, nicknamed “The Sting,” still features its original numbers-matching LS5 454/390 horsepower engine with 500 lb-ft of torque, along with its original Monza Red paint complete with vintage 1975 graphics and custom mags.
Now it’s being offered on Craigslist out of Santa Barbara, California, with an asking price of $48,000.
The seller says he has made numerous repairs during his time with the car, pointing out that everything broken or worn that wasn’t disclosed to him by the previous owner has since been repaired.
That includes a total rebuild of the suspension, original M21 four-speed manual transmission, brakes, and original manifolds (paired with a new exhaust system from collectors to tips).
The mag centers, egg crates, and deck vents are all black powder-coated, and the entire car has been ceramic coated.
Other key features include factory and dealer alarms and power steering/brakes/windows, and all of the sometimes temperamental vacuum systems are said to be in perfect working order.
The seller says this Stingray convertible, which features a black interior, has been “extremely well maintained” and includes lots of documentation, with the Protect-O-Plate, new purchase registration, and other paperwork coming with the car. Also included are extra original steel wheels and various new parts.
Are you ready to climb into this Time Machine of a Corvette and roar your way back to the ’70s?

454/390 HP in 1970
Love it but I could do without the black rear end treatment with the weird looking stripe that just abruptly stops at the rear fender flares. They should have kept the stripes going further down the sides and come to a point like they did on some Baldwin Motion Corvettes.
Black stripes have to go.
Black stripes have to go.
The graphics are atrocious. Those, along with the funky wheels, ugly what could be a nice car up pretty good. Repaint it and throw a set of 8″ Rally’s on it and you would have a pretty nice automobile.
I like everything about this vette. Great paint scheme, excellent choice in wheels. I wouldn’t change but one thing about it if I could. That one thing would be the owner/driver. I’d change it to me 😎👍
Beautiful C3. I have a 73 stingray with a 454 because I couldn’t find an affordable 72 or earlier. They look so much better with chrome bumpers front and rear, and that removable rear window. How cool is that?! Wish they hadn’t stopped putting that in them. Someone is going to a beautiful stingray and hopefully they drive it. After all that’s what it’s meant for. Rolling needs to roll.
Agree to those comments, kill the wheels, and the ridiculous black crap on the rear. Corvette rally wheels are the way to go. Less is more on any Corvette from 1963 to 1972. Which in my opinion are the 10 best years for a Corvette. The newer ones look like Matchbox/Transformer cars.
Great vette until someone decided to ghetto decorate it with that awful black paint on the rear and the Lord only knows where you found the wheels.
It makes me cringe to look at those modifications.
Maybe you can find a coontail for the antenna?
So true
The old school graphics and wheels make this Vette a time capsule. Don’t change a thing! It’s perfect
The paint scheme can always be changed to your liking, my main concerns, does it set you back in your seat at a level that makes the passenger turn white, does it handle like it should, does the compression noise when you let of the gas sound like a monster breathing, , if the answer is yes, then please call me.
