Back in the mid-’70s, many collectors thought the ’75 Corvette would be the last convertible ever offered.
GM definitely fooled us all, though, with the re-introduction of the ragtop in 1986, and each subsequent generation has continued to offer completely open-air motoring.
But in 1975, we didn’t know what the future would hold, though not many of us around 50 years ago really seemed to care if there was a convertible Corvette or not – with the T-top coupe definitely feeling lots of love back then.
If you missed out on the “last” Corvette convertibles when they were on the showroom floor in 1975, this example being offered for $21,500 on Craigslist out of Adams Center, New York might be the ticket for you.
These mid-’70s Corvettes weren’t known for their power, but this one has undergone a complete frame-off restoration in 2004 – at which time the numbers-matching 350 V8 was reworked to create more horsepower with a 600 CFM carburetor and a chambered exhaust that make the engine run smooth and sound great, according to the seller.
“This 1975,” he promises, “will get up and go.”
That eliminates one of the arguments against owning one of these cars.
Adding to the fun factor of this Corvette is its original close-ratio four-speed manual transmission, said to be one of only 1,057 built that year, according to the Corvette Black Book.
Since the restoration, the car has mostly been used for shows and weekend cruise runs. “The retired gentleman that I purchased it from said he spent most of the time keeping it clean and looking at it in his garage,” the seller said.
We love the blue paint, especially when paired with the black vinyl hardtop that was one of only 279 made that year. Both tops are said to be in “excellent” condition, and while the paint isn’t perfect with “a couple of chips due to its age,” it remains a “good driver quality,” according to the listing.
Likewise, the black interior “shows no signs of wear,” and the tires and wheels look new, “complete with perfect trim rings.”
If you’re looking for a project car, this isn’t the one for you, but if you want a Corvette that is “ready to go,” this one might be worth a look.

Not too shabby and it’s a good color. I’d have it for a driver quality Corvette.
Never really liked the rubber ducky rear of that era. Prefer 1969-1973 C3s.
Yes, decent car from here. Nice blue color, 4-speed, more power, two tops…this would suit me. Two things though. The power window switches are not original and just look wonky.
Would also like to know what shape the steering wheel is in. Why people keep using those tacky looking covers is beyond me. Unless there is some deeper story, those items are easy fixes though.
