Corvettes for Sale: Original 340-hp 1963 Corvette Convertible with Two Tops

The owner of this white over red 1963 Corvette convertible says he’s had lots of fun with this “super fast” car over his “several” years of ownership.

But now he’s recently decided to part with his survivor Sting Ray on Craigslist out of La Center, Washington, with an asking price of $76,400.

Calling it a “true muscle car” with no power steering or power brakes, the seller points out that the original L76 327 V8 engine remains under the hood 62 years later, an option that cost $107.60 back in the day and greatly boosted the horsepower to 340 from the base 250. That’s quite a bit of bang for the buck.

While the engine is original, it has been recently rebuilt with the break-in oil still inside, along with a new clutch for the four-speed manual transmission, original flywheel turned, and the original bellhousing.

Speaking of originality, the car has many other parts it left the factory with, including the windshield (though with wiper scratches now), other glass, intake, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner, distributor, carburetor, alternator, radiator, and expansion tank. Even the door panels and seats and two of the T-3 headlights are believed to be the originals.

This Montana car is said to have always been stored, so there’s no rust on the frame. A recoat of the original Ermine White paint is still “very presentable.” Opinions may be mixed on the red hardtop currently on the car, however, though some might argue it’s a good complement to the matching red interior and white exterior.

Some new mechanical parts have been installed, including the exhaust, sway bushings, shocks and rear spring link bushings.

With the correct high tachometer and a fresh 11:1 rebuild, “she’s super fast and fun,” the owner says. Would you agree with that assessment?

  1. I would most definitely agree with that assessment of the performance offered by the 340 horse motor. I am also someone that is not fond of that red hardtop.

  2. The red hardtop looks lame on that white car. Only a matching color white hardtop would look right on it.
