Corvettes for Sale: Numbers Matching 1970 Corvette with a 350/350 and a 4-Speed on Craigslist

Being a southern boy, it’s hard for me to picture a vintage C3 rolling along the streets of Long Island, New York, but that’s exactly where this one is located.

If you’re looking for a Bloomington Gold example, however, don’t bother with this 1970 Corvette Stingray currently being offered on Craigslist.

The owner admits his car is not a pristine example but nevertheless believes it does deserve a “driver+” rating, so he feels justified in asking $34,999, especially since he says “these cars are climbing in value, selling for more than 45k+.”

Whether this one is worthy of his asking price is an individual decision, but the photos do seem to indicate it’s a pretty nice looking chrome bumper Corvette that was repainted in the original shade of Bridgehampton Blue in the early 2000s and now has “some scuffs and nicks here and there,” the seller says. He rates the body and paint as “about an 8/10.”

The L46 350/350 V8 engine, meanwhile, is said to be numbers-matching, having been rebuilt around the same time that the previous owner also rechromed the front and rear bumpers and installed new front grilles and lenses.

The engine remains “all stock,” he says, except for the addition of roller rockers “from what I know,” adding that “pad numbers match and are visible.”

In addition, the engine and bay have just been “completely overhauled like factory spec,” with all new gaskets, hoses, core support (because of age/condition), oil pump, oil pan and gasket, all vacuum lines, and headlight modulators. The carburetor has also been rebuilt, and the car retains its correct intake and carburetor, though a Hurst shifter with a stock handle has been installed “for better feel,” he says.

The brakes, suspension, chassis, and exhaust are also rated “clean and in good shape.”

After all the maintenance work, he says the car “runs great” today with “no issues.”

Sitting behind the wheel, a new owner will find the black leather interior to be “in great shape,” with the aftermarket radio that looks vintage the only modification.

Can you picture yourself rolling along the streets of your hometown in this vintage Stingray?

  1. That junky garage with all the stuff piled up around the car waiting to fall probably contributed to the 8 out of 10 on the paint condition. I have 2 collector cars in my garage and keep it orderly.

  2. Totally agree RC! I’m always amazed at the people who have no idea how to sell a vehicle. Bad photos, not enough photos, shadows, junk in the garage, trash cans in the background, poor description…If you don’t know what you’re doing, there are many good examples on other sites, like Hemmings. All these folks have to do is take a quick look at those and follow suit. Quite simple, especially if you’re looking for top dollar.

  3. Looks like a good car. I don’t think anyone that is serious about buying the car is worried about how the garage looks. Haha.
