General Motors finished with three of its brands among the top six in the new J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index Study.
Buick led the way with a score of 827 out of a possible 1,000 – two points behind the No. 1 score of Mini, while GMC was fifth with 816 and Chevrolet sixth with 812.
Chevy’s point total was the same as for 2023, but that was good enough for third place a year ago.
For 2024, however, the Bow-Tie brand did manage to finish ahead of other long-time competitors like Ford (805), Jeep (804), Dodge (800), and Ram (798), and Chevy was 14 points above the average score among mass-market competitors of 798.
The study shows customers are more satisfied overall with the sales experience this year, with lower prices caused by bigger inventories and a greater variety of models being among the prime reasons.
Only 8 percent of buyers are now paying above MSRP compared to 15 percent in 2023. Chevy’s Corvette is a good example of that change, with some 2024 models now available below MSRP at some dealers.
The study sampled nearly 35,000 customers, including both buyers and rejecters (who broke off the sales process to purchase somewhere else).
While the overall satisfaction industry-wide did show improvement this year, J.D. Power Vice President Stewart Stropp said the 2024 study “shows satisfaction with other parts of the sales experience has not improved nearly as much” and reveals “plenty of opportunity … to optimize the path to purchase.”

How is it even possible that Honda and Toyota only scored 794 and 777 respectively? I can understand Chrysler finishing last.
Where is Lexus? They are probably near the top. These surveys are never accurate.
It’s great to see Chevrolet is stepping up their game since customer satisfaction leads to repeat buyers.
