National Corvette Museum to Host a Student Art Competition

Three talented high school artists will soon have their work displayed at the National Corvette Museum, if they are judged winners of the museum’s upcoming “Horsepower and Hyperrealism – A High School Art Competition.”

The contest is an extension of the NCM’s current exhibit called “LUSTER: Realism and Hyperrealism in Contemporary Automobile and Motorcycle Painting,” a traveling exhibit of more than 55 paintings by nearly 15 modern artists specializing in automobiles and motorcycles as their main subject. The art is being juxtaposed against the vehicles that served as inspiration for the artists and will be on display through the end of the year.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with “LUSTER,” the museum is hosting a contest for all high school students in Kentucky, with three winners to have their entries featured at the opening event for “An American Love Affair: Corvette and Pop Culture” exhibit on October 17, as well as in an issue of “America’s Sports Car,” the NCM’s quarterly magazine. The winning artwork will also be on display at the museum throughout 2024.

Entries – which must be connected to Corvette or transportation – must be submitted by email by October 1, 2024, and judging will follow the next week, with the winners to be contacted October 9.
