The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green is celebrating its 30th Anniversary later this year, and they have been busy getting everything ready for the huge crowds expected as the National Corvette Caravan is expected to bring in around 8,000 attendees for the show.
One of the areas that we and many others wanted to see changed was the Corvette Museum’s outdoor delivery banner where participants of the NCM’s R8C Museum Delivery Program get their pictures taken with their new rides. Following all the paperwork and instruction that happens inside the Museum on Corvette Boulevard, the owner is then driven outside with a stop made in front of the NCM Delivery Mural for additional photos.
Originally, there was a white vinyl banner there that said, “Living the Dream.” Then, under Sharon Brawner’s tenure, it was changed to a painted mural featuring the NCM logo, and a picture featuring the SkyDome and a running horse with an outline representing the state of Kentucky. The mural still read “living the dream” which was done in an “artistic style” that always left us feeling that the painting was uncompleted. The other issue is that cars being photographed would block the “Living the Dream” saying under it:
We made sure to talk about the status of the mural earlier this year with R8C Program Manager Rod Keller when we saw him at the NCM Bash, and he told us we weren’t the only ones who had made their feelings known about it. Thankfully, that mural is now gone, and we now have something new in its place.
We caught the update thanks to our friend Mike Furman whose R8C customers were among the first to be photographed with their new Corvette against the updated mural. As you can see, the new mural contains a lightly faded 1953 Corvette with the NCM’s new tagline “Adrenaline Meets Tradition.” Below it is a fading checkered flag. One the left side, it reads “Living the Dream” and then on the very right is the NCM logo along the Corvette logos from each of the eight generations.
We think it looks pretty cool and really like the juxtaposition between the painted vintage Corvette and C8 Corvette in front of it. The only concern we have heard is from one commentor who suggested it might be harder to photograph a black Corvette in front of. Each Sunday we post Mike Furman’s delivery pics so we’ll be on the lookout for that first black Corvette to see if that will really be a concern.
Let’s send a virtual Corvette Wave to Rod Keller for making this change! Let us know your thoughts on the new NCM R8C Delivery Mural in the comments below.
UPDATE
We heard from Rod Keller thanking us for the coverage. He tells us that “credit for the mural should go to our Marketing Department and Aaron Drexler specifically who created the visual for the mural. It was a team effort and one we are very proud of.”

They never should have replaced the original, which was light years better than either subsequent change. This latest version is almost as worthless. Remember: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Surely they could have done better than this bland washed out looking image.
RALLY bad you guys. The last one was good. It had heart and soul.
Fail.
Sorry….
I am glad that NCM finally has a mural befitting the tepid and bland color assortment GM likes to offer for Corvette.
