Police in Philadelphia are searching for a second vehicle possibly involved in an alleged street racing incident that killed the driver of a C6 Corvette early Tuesday morning.
Reports from WPVI-TV Channel 6 Action News say the crash happened in the Bustleton section of Philadelphia around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Video from the scene shows the red Corvette sitting on the side of the street in the 1100 block of Welsh Road, its front end badly damaged and debris from the car lying nearby.
Police are hoping to find surveillance cameras in the area that could help them determine what kind of vehicle may have been involved in the crash.

What’s more bizarre–A 59 year old street racing, or the fact that anyone died in what appears to be a pretty benign wreck?
12 45 at night, he was probably returning from bible study.
@ Matt – if you zoom in on the picture, how the driver’s seat is positioned, and the roofline, it doesn’t look so benign. At least not to me. Also, the video shows the concrete wall that was pummeled by the Corvette. Concrete > fiberglass all day long.
Sounds like a whole lot of speculation, seems weird though. I have seen many other Vettes wrecked way worse and they walked away. Maybe he had a heart attack or a seizure. Just blaming racing is BS. These cars are very tough so what gives?? It’s a wide road too and these cars are built for speed. Something smells here. And what does age have to do with anything here?? I am 66 and get a little excited here and there, especially if it’s a 5.0 or an SRT:)
A 59 year old should be way more than old enough to know better than to street race. It’s a known fact that there’s never a good outcome when a speeding composite bodied Corvette hits a hard stationary object.
Physics?
Newton’s three laws of motion.
1. Law of inertia; object in motion will stay in motion.
2. Forces equal mass times acceleration.
3. The car exerts this force in the direction of the concrete wall, but the wall, which is static, and unmovable exerts equal force back on the Corvette.
I cannot imagine the pain and heartache the spouse as well as the family are feeling.
My deepest condolence!
Many thanks,
Ray
