Justin Langlinais had the t-tops out of his red 1975 Corvette Wednesday afternoon, cruising down the streets of LaFayette, Louisiana and enjoying the day.
Just before 1:30 p.m., though, Langlinais noticed his Stingray was smoking as he approached a red light on the corner of Camellia Boulevard and Silverstone Road.
He hopped out of the car moments before the engine bay erupted into flames.
Langlinais says the LaFayette Fire Department answered the call quickly and extinguished the blaze.
Unfortunately, the front of his once-beautiful Corvette – which he’s owned for nearly two years – was badly damaged on the passenger side, burning away the tire and the fiberglass fender and part of the hood, exposing the engine. But it appears the work of the firefighters was able to save the majority of the car, so maybe it’ll be on the road again after repairs can be made.
“I was at the light and it caught on fire and the Lafayette Fire Department showed up real quick. They’re excellent. These guys deserve all the credit,” Langlinais told a reporter for KATC News in LaFayette.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze, the cause of which is still being investigated.

Looks like a Corvette identifying as a Tesla.
Not worth repairing. Take the insurance settlement and buy a new Vette.
Wonder if he’ll pop for a fire extinguisher in his next car?
