[VIDEO] The Final Wrap Up with Edmunds Long Term C8 Corvette Stingray

After spending three years with a 2020 Corvette Stingray and racking up 32,000 miles, the folks at Edmunds finally said good-bye to their long-term tester of a sports car.

Their garage, they pointed out in a post today outlining their experiences with the mid-engine sports car, “is all the poorer for it.”

As you might expect, the Stingray’s performance was among their favorite features as they called it “simply one of the best-driving sports cars on the road.”

They also came away impressed with their Rapid Blue 2LT’s usefulness, saying it’s “a great sports car to use every day,” especially thanks to its exceptional ride quality and well-padded and well-bolstered seats.

Perhaps every staffer’s favorite feature, though, was the front lift option. “As a former C6 owner, I had to deal with the scrrrckkk sound of my car’s plastic underbody air dam scraping on my driveway every time I backed out of my driveway,” one said. “Now I can just lift the front end with a push of a button or, better yet, program it into the navigation system so that it does it automatically when I approach my driveway. Brilliant!”

Naturally, there were a few cons, though the list was “far shorter than the pros,” Edmunds noted.

Taller drivers found the cabin “on the small side,” and some complained about the engine’s direct-injection system that “sounds clattery and diesel-like at idle.” The Great Wall of Buttons also drew some disfavor, as did the reduced cargo space compared to some of the previous generations.

Maintenance also proved to be a little pricey, though we think some of that cost was due to the likely rough treatment the car received from a multitude of drivers out for a good time. In all, Edmunds had to replace three windshields, two wheels, and four sets of tires.

Still, even with those expenses added in, Edmunds wasn’t really complaining. They originally paid $80,660 for the car and just sold it for $61,000 for a total of 24 percent depreciation. Along with the cost of repairs and maintenance ($9,536 in all!), it cost them $29,196 for three years of absolute fun.

“Would we do it again?” Edmunds asks. “In a heartbeat.”

Little wonder, as they pointed out that their Stingray delivered “on nearly all fronts,” calling it “faster, easier to drive, and more comfortable than ever before.”

Indeed, “no one was ever disappointed to grab the keys to the Corvette for a night.”
