[VIDEO] Corvette E-RAY vs C8 Z06 - On Track Comparisons from Drive 615

Our friend Byron Glover Jr of the Drive 615 YouTube channel has a new video out that is a must-watch for anyone on the fence between buying the Z06 over the E-Ray. These are two very different cars that react differently on the track, and he just had the opportunity to drive both back-to-back at the National Corvette Museum’s Motorsports Park.

Byron literally jumps out of the 2024 E-Ray after his Lead/Follow laps at the NCM MSP, and after a quick walk-around of both widebody Corvettes, he’s behind the wheel of the Z06 and hits the track for some more fast laps.

Right away, he notices the sound and fury that is the C8 Z06 and says the biggest differences with the Z06 are sound, steering feel, and top-line acceleration. However, in the corners he mentions how he felt that without the E-Ray’s All-Wheel Drive, he was a little more nervous. The E-Ray, he says, “had my back.” With the Z06, “You don’t feel as planted as in the E-Ray, but you feel less restrictive,” says Byron as he makes his way around the track.

Byron also says that while the sound of the Z06 is more visceral, he missed the sound of the electric motor in the E-Ray and claims that he “almost likes it better.”

In the end it just comes down to the person and what they want out of their Corvette. Both Corvettes are incredible cars on and off the track. Byron pretty much sums up his comparison drive with the following:

“Do you want a really fast V8, but more daily driver, all-year-round, all-season practicality, go for the E-Ray, if that’s what you want. If you really want something loud, a bit more flashy and rowdy, go for the Z06. Either way, you can’t go wrong. And if those aren’t your speed, then just get the C8. Heck, get any Corvette for that matter. I’m an advocate for any generation, any year, any model. I love the Corvette brand and not just because I own one. I’ve always loved Corvettes. They’re awesome, they’re fast, they’re fun, and it’s just a community of like-minded individuals who love the automotive scene. So, I’m blessed to be able to experience these cars.”

Byron also got to do a launch of the Z06 to compare to his 2.1 second time 0-60 MPH that he did with E-Ray. With the Z06, his time was 3 seconds. However, the car refused to hook up on the parking lot pavement and Byron wasn’t really able to spend the time trying to configure and dial in the adjustable launch control that’s available in both cars.

We think that Byron’s assessment of both cars is right on. In the end, it’s all about what YOU want from your Corvette. And there is nothing wrong with whatever choice you made.

From Byron Glover Jr at the Drive 615 YouTube Channel:

Yesterday, I went up to the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park (NCMSP) in Bowling Green Kentucky. I was fortunate enough to get to track the all new Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray on the track. Thank you so much to the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park.

  1. I like watching Byron’s videos. He always shoots straight from the hip and he’s not full of crap and annoying to watch like some of the other YouTubers who own Corvettes.
