As a writer for Edmunds, Cameron Rogers has tested and reviewed hundreds of vehicles.

Looking back over all the “cool, new” cars he was fortunate enough to have tested over the past year, however, Rogers comes to the conclusion that Edmunds’ own long-term test fleet 2020 Corvette Stingray is the best out of them all – “the one I kept coming back to, time and again,” as he puts it.

The Rapid Blue coupe has been in Edmunds’ fleet since August 2020, but it wasn’t until this year that Rogers was finally able to spend four months using it as a daily driver.

After all that time behind the wheel, he calls the Stingray a “perfect all-rounder,” praising its incredible comfort. That practicality and livability are, he admits, odd things to lead with when you’re talking about a sports car.

“Nobody is going to confuse it with the pillowy ride of an S-Class,” he writes, “but the Corvette’s body resists shimmies and shakes even on rougher pavement. It has enough passenger room for a 6-foot-4 giant like me (not an abundance of, but enough) and the cabin has much richer materials than the previous-generation Corvette, which in turn significantly improved upon its predecessor.”

Of course, customers buy Corvettes for their outstanding performance, and Rogers wasn’t disappointed. “You never forget you’re behind the wheel of a machine,” is the way he puts it.

Acceleration and handling are “unsurprisingly phenomenal,” and Rogers goes on to say “the only real downside performance-wise” is the light steering (that can be remedied with the flip of a dial) and an exhaust note that isn’t quite as aggressive as he would like.

All in all, though, the new Corvette is a well-rounded car, he concludes, adding that “not only is it an excellent weekend warrior, it’s also practical enough to drive every day.”

  1. i’ve been singing that song for 31,000 miles, i took the satin blue wrap off and SMG is a great color. I left Corvette years ago for the SC400, i have not drove that car since the C8 arrived. I agree with Mr Rogers, Best Car I have owned. That’s why i have 2.

  2. Did you mean SGM (Shadow Grey Metallic)?

I’ve only had my C8 for 2 months, and it’s my first 2-seat sports car. So I can’t compare to other luxury or sports cars, but let me tell you, this car is amazing to drive. If you install a throttle controller such as a Soler or Pedal Commander, the C8 really wakes up and that acceleration lag is eliminated.
