Hats off to the Gas Monkey Garage’s Richard Rawlings for the barn find of the year. After putting a call out that he’s buying Corvettes, Rawlings received an email about a rough ’63 Split Window barn find that was offered to him along with two other mid-years, a 1966 and a 1967 Corvette that were also in equally rough condition. After purchasing all three Corvettes for $15,000, he gives a call to his friend Dennis Collins letting him know that the “splitty” is for sale.
Of course, just because Rawlings paid $5,000 for the split window, it doesn’t mean he going to sell it for that amount. Before we knew the pricing on the car, Dennis says he knows what Richard had paid for it and was offering to sell it for “seven times” that amount to take it home. But first, he wants to see the VIN and trim tags.
The Corvette is missing its engine and transmission, and Dennis points out it has a $40 hood on it. While the car has had some fiberglass work to remove a set of wheel flairs, the Corvette appears to have never been wrecked as it’s showing its original bonding strips all around the car. Inside we can see the remnants of a Red interior and the trim tag confirms it was a 941A Sebring Silver exterior with the 490C Red vinyl interior. The birdcage is also good which Dennis says is important to anyone wanting to build a restomod with the car.
Richard tells Dennis after the inspection that if he wants the car, “It’s going to cost you every bit of $35,000 and that’ll be the cheapest split window ever, except for the one I bought.” Dennis readily agrees to the price, but only if he can get a shot at buying the other two Corvettes. Richard seems a bit surprised that Dennis would pay the $35K for the car, but Dennis ticks off the car’s attributes and says he’s happy with it.
Dennis comments that on his videos, he never shares the selling price or shows the money changing hands but says that Richard has a totally different theory. So you’re going to see him get paid with three stacks of cash!

Didn’t know they made a C2 Super Bee. Must have been made in Mexico.
This is a fun video just like all of Dennis’ videos I’ve watched. However I’m surprised he’s willing to pay $35 grand for that shell of a Split Window with no drivetrain. Of course his greedy, money hungry buddy Richard is more than happy to sell it to him for that much.
