[VIDEO] Dennis Collins Rescues a Barn Find 1966 Corvette Coupe in Colorado

We have been fortunate to witness a few previous barn-find rescues by Dennis Collins which usually involves a winch and a convoluted plan to extract the car. As his latest video shows, Dennis heads off to Colorado to inspect a 1966 Corvette that was part of an estate sale, but which he appears to have the inside track on.

Located in Niwot, Colorado, the 1966 Corvette Coupe was stored in a shed behind the house. With the ground having a good dusting of snow, Dennis was glad that he rented a Jeep Gladiator to help assist with the extraction. The Corvette has been off the road since the mid-80s, but the four tires with Crager rims appear to be holding air which should aid in the removal. Dennis starts to go through the car and finds some paperwork and a Midas warranty document in the glove compartment.

The car itself appears to be covered in a primer and the sellers say it used to be silver, With the driver side door panel off and the metal underneath showing blue, Dennis believes it was originally a Nassau Blue car and a look at the unmolested trim tag confirms that assessment. Inside the coupe, you’ll see a black interior and four-speed manual transmission. He opens up the hood but we never did get a definitive answer on the status of the engine and whether it was original or not to the car.

After lunch at a local pizzeria, Collins then visits the wife of the car’s owner who is now a resident of an assisted living facility. After sharing some memories about the car, Dennis brings the trailer and the Corvette around to the front entrance so she can see it one more time.

Collins says the plan is going to take back the exterior to its factory color but with the wheel flares and engine question, he’ll probably go the restomod route with it.

All in all, this was another great video from Dennis about rescuing a classic Corvette!

  1. I like the Corvette with the flares, Cragar S/S wheels and wide tires. I’d love to see it when Dennis gets done with it. I know it will be awesome. Always enjoy watching Dennis’s videos.
