GIVING TUESDAY: Fund a Field Trip to the National Corvette Museum

The Tuesday following Thanksgiving is known as “Giving Tuesday” and it’s a great opportunity to take a break from our holiday shopping and open our wallets and hearts to support our favorite non-profit organizations.

As a Corvette enthusiast and Lifetime Member of the National Corvette Museum, we wanted to do something on Giving Tuesday that not only benefits the NCM, but also supports our mission of “evangelizing the Corvette Lifestyle” to a whole new generation. And one great way to accomplish both of those goals was to fund a Field Trip to the Museum.

One of the most memorable field trips for me happened when I was in the fifth grade and we visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Museum. It was there that we learned all about the history of racing at Indianapolis and how much the cars and the track had changed over the years. Seeing those vintage race cars and reading the stories about the former drivers stayed with me all these years since, and that trip is something I think about every year in May as I sit down to watch the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

Today, we are hoping to a make a similar impact which is why we have made a donation of $500 to fund a class of students to visit the National Corvette Museum. Our hope is that perhaps one or two of the students who visit will see that one special Corvette that becomes the reason why they will want to be a Corvette owner someday.

Here’s the “Fund a Field Trip” program as described by the NCM:

The Fund A Field Trip campaign allows us to offset the cost of field trips to the National Corvette Museum for local school groups in underserved areas. Unfortunately, with budget cuts and school funding shortages, many students in our community do not have the opportunity to take field trips. The National Corvette Museum is committed to the needs of all students and educators who want to visit, and we’re asking for your assistance in removing some of the financial roadblocks.

The National Corvette Museum offers several ways for donors to direct their dollars to specific missions within the NCM, and your donations are considered to be tax-deductible gifts. We’ll probably do another donation for the Collection Preservation Fund as we have done in previous years, which helps to support and maintain the Corvettes held by the museum.

You can see all the options for giving to the National Corvette Museum at CorvetteMuseum.org/support. For additional donor information, contact the NCM at 270-781-7973 or email at [email protected].

  1. When I was in elementary school I wish we could have gone on field trips to cool places like automotive museums. I remember my class going on field trips to a shithole called Gaddy’s Goose Pond and a place called Seagrove Pottery. BORING!
