Back in January, a lightly optioned Torch Red 2023 Corvette Z06 1LZ crossed the block at Mecum Kissimmee for a whopping $275,000, including the 10% buyer’s commission.

We’ll have a chance to see where the market has headed over the past year, when another similarly optioned 1LZ Z06 – but a 2024 – hits the runway this weekend at Mecum’s Kansas City 2023 sale.

This Black over Adrenaline Red Z06 coupe has a sticker price about as low as you can get, with a total vehicle price of $116,850 after $5,055 worth of options. Of course, $2,600 of that number is the Gas Guzzler Tax that adds no benefit to the owner.

Still, this car manages to look very nice, despite its relatively bargain-basement MSRP – with cosmetic options including edge red calipers for $695, black spider design wheels for $495, black exhaust tips for $395, torch red-painted rear Corvette script for $395, black lug nuts for $250, and Z06 badge in red for $225. Also included in the base MSRP of $110,100 are niceties like the 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, magnetic selective ride control, Bose premium stereo, and dual zone air conditioning.

The main reason anyone wants to buy a Z06, of course, is included with every single one, no matter how low the final MSRP is: the awesome 670-horsepower 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine rumbling behind the driver.

Despite having only 15 miles on the odometer, this example won’t include the factory warranty since it’s being sold within the first six months of ownership. That probably won’t matter to the person who has deep pockets and wants the thrill of driving a mid-engine Z06 right now, however.

Z06 production hasn’t increased enough to satisfy the market yet, so this one may still head into the stratosphere more than a year into production. Where do you think the final gavel will drop?

Mecum’s Kansas City auction takes place November 30-December 2nd at the Kansas City Convention Center with 700 vehicles expected to cross the auction block. Visit mecum.com to view to the consignments, and you can register to bid with options for in-person, telephone, and internet bidding available.

  1. Car looks good. But I wouldn’t buy a Z06 without a PDR or ceramic brakes. But then again I’m part of the 10% group of Corvette owners that tracks my 2022 C8 Stingray.
