[VIDEO] More Signs that Pre-Owned C8 Corvette Stingray Sales are Slowing

We are now in the fourth year of C8 Corvette production and GM has produced over 100,000 C8 Stingrays in that time. Over these last years, we’ve seen Corvettes hold their values exceedingly well, but are we finally seeing a market reset?

We have been featuring one youtuber named FourWheel Trader who does a breakdown on Corvette sales from the cars uploaded to AutoTrader and his last post showed that the market was cooling with prices coming down and cars taking longer and longer to sell.

This next video from Car Auctions Weekly is similar in nature, but here the host looks at the sales data from the popular auction websites Bring a Trailer and Cars and Bids. Unlike Fourwheel Trader’s presentation which is just about the Stingray on AutoTrader, the host of Car Auctions Weekly takes a look at the sales activities of both models.

The Z06 chart is interesting as it shows 10 Z06s previously listed on Bring a Trailer with five of them selling and the other five resulting in no sales. These cars are still limited in the market place, but the results from the sold cars shows just how much in demand these cars are. The highest prices are going to the 70th Anniversary models and we appreciate the host’s disdain for the high prices be charged by dealers as he shares an example of a dealer not taking a $50K profit on a Z06 with an MSRP of $138K. Additional supply from the factory is still ramping up, and we should see these sales numbers grow as sellers who held their cars for longer than six months to avoid the no-warranty transfer bring their cars to market. The additional supply in the market will eventually bring these prices down, but not in the immediate future.

The C8 Stingray chart is also interesting as we do see that prices are coming down significantly from their highs in 2021. During this calendar year, we are seeing 33 C8 Stingrays listed on BaT and 19 of them sold, but only three cars managed to tie or break $100K, and two of them did just barely. Ten C8 Corvettes listed in May 2023 resulted in six no sales and the high bids ended up being close to or under MSRP. The host once again shows some of these no-sale C8 Corvette auctions in more detail.

  1. Dealers aren’t dropping prices, but private owners are. I’ve seen nice low mileage C8’s going for well under $60,000. I bought mine two years ago for $54,000 and it was a 1LT with the Z51 Package with only 3,300 miles.

  2. If buyers aren’t being ridiculous and over-paying then sellers have to be content with a REAL prices for cars they never really wanted to begin with, in most cases.
Cool is the rule, chill is the drill 😎✌️🙏
