Corvette Delivery Dispatch with National Corvette Seller Mike Furman for April 16th

Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.

It’s Sunday and that means another award-winning post from the nation’s most prolific Corvette Seller, Mike Furman. This week, Mike starts off with some historical photos before getting into the new Corvette deliveries, which are many this week. Congrats to mutual friend Chet B. for seeing his new Corvette on the lot as well as all the new owners who took delivery of some great new Stingrays and Z06s. We also have a fantastic collection of throwback and vintage photos for your viewing pleasure so once you get to the bottom, let us know in the comments your favorite for the week. Not that I want to give a leg up to any photo, but the dog washing the car is my favorite for the week!

~The 1969 “Astrovette.” Built for the Apollo 12 Astronauts Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, and DIck Gordon, it was leased to the three for $1 by former Indy 500 champion and millionaire car dealer Jim Rathmann. It was renowned industrial and automotive designer Alex Tremulis, [the stylist behind the iconic Tucker Torpedo], who devised the black “wings” paint scheme covering the rear buttresses of the cars, which the astronauts quickly approved. The three identical Riverside Gold sports coupes arrived with 390-hp, 427 Turbo-Jet V-8, four-speed wide-range transmission, PosiTraction 3.08 rear axle, air-conditioning, black vinyl interior, and unique wheel covers.

~This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette once belonged to astronaut Al Worden and is one of only three like it that remain.

~I never saw Brian Williams visit Malcolm Konner Chevrolet but I did witness Zora Arkus Duntov spend a lot of time at the dealership every Summer between 1978-1990 before I moved to Maryland! Zora was a fantastic man and an icon in the Corvette world. A truly good friend of the Konner family!

~1964 Chevrolet Corvette for Knudsen’s Wife. It was not always just the GM execs who were given factory-customized rides; witness Marian Mitchell’s show-stopping 1967 big block convertible. Close on the heels of Bunkie Knudsen’s Rose Pearl factory special is this stunning Pink Pearl 1964 coupe gifted to Knudsen’s wife Florence, who drove the car in the comfort of its customized matching Pink leather interior, harnessing its 396 CI engine under a bulging 1965-style hood in what may well have been the first big block Vette produced. A great touch: the finned aluminum knock-off wheels sporting “Pinkwall” tires. This is another example of what the GM Design Center was capable of creating. Florence Knudsen’s Corvette Sting Ray was just dripping with special features and some interesting preproduction features.

~Paul S. of Bothell, Washington reached out 2,800 miles across the country to order from me his new Red Mist 2023 Corvette Z51 coupe. I had his Corvette drop shipped for courtesy delivery at his local Chevrolet dealership in Seattle, WA. Equipment: 1LT, bright red calipers, CF black wheels and Z51 pkg.

~Chet B. of Chicago, Illinois is the owner of Aerolarri Wheels and he placed his order for a Silver Flare 2023 Z06 Coupe from me and his Z06 was born one day after his newborn son. So double congrats are due to Chet and Ashley! We completed the payment/paperwork process via Fed Ex and Plycar Trucking will enclose trailer this beauty to his Illinois home. Equipment list: 3LZ, Adrenaline Red/Black interior, front lift, CF interior trim, bright red calipers, Spider satin graphite wheels…which I am sure Chet has a plan to put an ultra cool set of Aerolarri wheels on his new Corvette! I type up that window note for all Z06’s.

~Chet B. (Mr Aerolarri) of Chicago, Illinois will receive his new Z06 via Plycar trucking but in the meantime todays visitor, Carlton (Chet’s really good friend) is a Maryland resident and took a drive by this morning to do what Chet couldn’t…first start. Always someone or something happening at Criswell Chevrolet of Gaithersburg, MD.

~Gary D. of Sanford, Florida flew up last eve to visit his sister Chris as she lives in Virginia and today he came in with her to take delivery of his 4th Corvette! He has owned a C2 a C4 and a C6 and now a C8! Gary ordered a Red Mist 2023 Corvette coupe with two tone Red/Black interior. Equipment: 2LT, visible carbon fiber roof, GT2 buckets, front lift, edge red calipers and much more.

~Dave G. of Eagle Point, Oregon factory ordered from me a Red Mist 2023 Corvette coupe with two tone Sky cool gray/ black interior and I had it drop shipped for delivery to his local Chevrolet dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Dave had the wheels changed out as soon as he took delivery and it looks like he chose wisely on all accounts. Equipment list: 2LT, GT2 buckets, Z51, Magnetic ride, and much more! ~Stephen P. of College Park, Georgia factory ordered from me a Pearl White 2023 Corvette Z51 70th anniversary Convertible and yesterday took delivery at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Vin 3072 is loaded with options and the Museum staff rolled out the red carpet for their special day.

~Mike M. of Alpharetta, Georgia special ordered from me his Carbon Flash metallic 2023 Corvette Z51 70th anniversary coupe and took delivery yesterday at the Corvette Museum in BG, KY. Vin 3053 is loaded and Mike had a blast with the whole delivery process.

The photos are now supplied to me by Fotofx, a company that has been working within the Museum for the past 10+ years and now they have pkgs available for a truly special experience to be captured digitally. I recommend their process the next time you take delivery at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY!

~Michael C. of Dayton, Ohio placed his Corvette order from me and he wanted his new ride to be prepped by our Corvette service department before being enclosed trailered to his Ohio home. ~Mehrdad Y. of Annandale, Virginia last owned a 2003 Corvette Z06 and his brother referred him to me to order a new C8 after he bought a 2021 Corvette.
