We heard this yesterday and it’s surprising news for sure! Following the announcements that Ford and Honda have withdrawn from the 2022 SEMA Show, Chevrolet has also decided to pull its official display this year with the news confirmed by our friends at Muscle Cars and Trucks.

MC&T speculated that Chevy would not be attending SEMA after the official floor plan released online didn’t show the automaker’s usually large footprint. Reaching out to Chevrolet for official comment, they received the following statement from a Chevy representative:

“GM has made the decision not to participate in the 2022 SEMA Show. The SEMA Show has always inspired us, and accessories and performance parts remain an important part of our business.”

Again, we find the move surprising as SEMA is an aftermarket trade show and Chevrolet Performance is usually front and center with its display of crate motors and connect-and-cruise kits with engine/transmission combos ready for aftermarket installation. The automaker has also traditionally created a number of show cars and trucks utilizing Chevrolet’s aftermarket parts while also showing off the latest performance vehicles like the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06, so their absence at the show will definitely be felt.

While no reason was provided by Chevrolet for the pullout, Ford told Motor1 that they will be refining its “approach to the annual event “to better reach and highlight how customers can personalize their Ford vehicles today and tomorrow.”

The 2022 SEMA show takes place in Las Vegas on November 1st-4th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

  1. Perhaps it’s because of the overemphasis on the aftermarket parts at that show and the overabundance of custom cars and trucks.
