[VIDEO] 950 WHP C6 Corvette ZR1 Wins Big Money in $10K Grudge Match

It took Nick Marks about five years to decide between a C7 Z06 and a C6 ZR1.

His opponents on the drag strip probably wish he was still making a choice and hadn’t already landed on this 2011 Torch Red ZR1.

Marks says his car’s LS9 engine is “stock bottom” with stock rods and pistons, but he’s made numerous other changes to upgrade the output to 950 horsepower (from the factory 638), where he decided to stop and “didn’t want to go too far,” as he puts it.

Modifications to the car include a Kong 2650 supercharger, along with that company’s 5-inch intake and billet tensioner, with a 275 billet. He also added two-inch American Racing headers, a custom grind cam, and a catch can and heat exchanger from DMS, along with a Nick Williams 103mm throttle body.

The most fascinating thing about the car, in our eyes, is his decision to ditch the stock six-speed manual transmission in favor of a modified automatic, so Nick is able to just shift it to Drive 3 and “let it eat.”

Recently, he talked extensively to Chris with That Racing Channel on YouTube about his car and takes him for a thrilling ride, and we also get to see Nick’s $10,000 grudge match with a Chevy Blazer.

The Blazer loses it right out of the gate but manages to keep from hitting the wall to his right before losing it again and slamming head-on into the left wall. We see his hand raise up, though, and we’re told he wasn’t hurt – other than taking a huge cut to his wallet to the tune of $10 grand.

Nick’s license plate – “A BAD ZR1” – says it all, doesn’t it?
