With a Rare Saturday Shift, Corvette Assembly Plants Built 1036 New 2022 Corvettes Last Week

The Corvette Assembly Plant looks like they are making some progress in their bid to make up for those lost production days from the December 11th tornado and snow days in late December.

We told you last week about the record-setting day for production of new Corvettes set last Tuesday with a total of 197 Corvettes built over two shifts. That record-setting trend continued as workers came back on Wednesday and built 195 cars over two shifts. Workers also pulled a rare Saturday shift and built 95 Corvettes for a weekly total of 1036! As a full production schedule is 184 Corvettes per day for 920 per week, the output from last week was 12.5% higher than what is considered full production.

However, the Assembly Plant rarely reaches that 920 cars goal per week. In November 2021, the production totals averaged 854.7 cars per week. So the 1036 produced in six days is a very big deal.

When that Saturday shift ended, workers had completed VIN #12059 for the 2022 model year.

The Assembly Plant was closed on Monday for observance of the Martin Luther King federal holiday. With that holiday now past us, the assembly plant’s next scheduled break is April 15th-18th for Good Friday/Easter Monday.

  1. Not 100% sure I agree. We are 3 years into the new generation, and the dealers can’t keep new corvettes in stock. The ones that have them put outrageous markups on them. All things being equal, my 2016 was the third year of the C7 and I bought it brand new in March of 2017 with a huge discount and 0% financing. Time will tell if these early C8s hold their value as well or better than previous generations, but I’m onboard and waiting for my 2022 to be built.

  2. Does anyone have any info on Canadian allotments? Dealers up here haven’t seen hardly any since November thanks
