Corvette Museum is Offering Limited Plant Tours During the NCM's 25th Anniversary Event


The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, recently announced a rare opportunity for Corvette enthusiasts during their upcoming 25th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for the last week of August, but you need to act quickly if you want to take advantage of this special offering.

While plant tours have been unavailable for the last 26 months due to the major assembly line renovations that took place in 2017 and the lead up to the 8th Generation Corvette reveal, 288 tour tickets have been graciously made available by GM as a fundraising opportunity for the National Corvette Museum, a501(c)(3) non-profit foundation. A $500 tax-deductible donation to the museum is all it takes to secure your golden ticket.

Now, at this point you might be thinking, “$500 is a lot of money for a 75-minute tour.” Well, a similar opportunity was made available to 100 Lifetime and Spire Society members of the Museum during last April’s Michelin NCM Bash, and I personally jumped at the opportunity to see the new assembly line, new paint shop, and a surprise “sneak peek” at the upcoming next-generation Corvette! The experience was worth every dollar, not only because I was afforded a rare opportunity, but because I was contributing financially to the world’s only Museum dedicated to a single car…America’s Sports Car…the Chevrolet Corvette!

If the $500 donation is not within your means at this time, we’ve been made aware of several additional opportunities for securing a tour ticket. An eBay auction is currently underway for one ticket. At the time I am writing this, the bid is at $255.

A chance to win a tour ticket will also come on Monday, August 12, via a contest on the Corvette Museum’s Facebook page.

Additionally, the Lone Star Corvette Club and Circle City Corvettes of Dothan, Alabama, have been given one ticket each to give to an Anniversary Celebration event attendee, and the Western Canada Corvette Caravan has purchased a tour ticket that they will award to a lucky member of their caravan to the NCM for the event.

The fact that a date for the resumption of daily plant tours is still yet to be determined means this opportunity is going to sell out quickly. Two of the tour times are already sold out and several others are nearing capacity. Katie Ellison, National Corvette Museum Director of Marketing & Communications, has told us that the tours will be offered on Wednesday, August 28, and Thursday, August 29, at 8:20 am, 8:35 am, 8:50 am, 9:05 am, 9:20 am, 11:15 am, 11:25 am, 11:35 am and 1:10 pm. Each tour is limited to 16 guests. Additionally, guests will be expected to follow normal protocol for plant tours, including a dress code requiring closed-toe shoes (no sandals or high heels). Cameras, cell phones, electronic devices, backpacks, purses or children under the age of ten will also not be permitted in the facility.
