2016 Corvettes on Woodward Event set for August 17th – 20th


The Annual Corvette-a-palooza known as Corvettes on Woodward is taking shape for 2016. We’re only a couple weeks away and Vette-crazed organizer Larry Courtney has just released the schedule of events for this year. Call your boss and get those vacation days approved now because you’ve got 4 days of Corvette and automotive nirvana to partake in.

Activities get underway Wednesday, August 10th at 10am at the GM Heritage Center. The Heritage Center is GM’s private museum housing some of their most prized vehicles. Cost is $10 at the door (cash only). The Heritage Center is located at 6400 Center Drive. Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Later that day at 2pm, Corvettes on Woodward’s marquee event gets underway. This year the massive Corvette takeover of Woodward Avenue will assemble at the all new M1 Concourse in Pontiac. The M1 Concourse is an 87 acre automotive playground for gearheads located right on Woodward Avenue about 3 miles north of the old Kingsley in location and has the capacity to host 1,000 Corvettes.

The procession down Woodward Avenue will begin at 7:30pm with a police-escorted lap around M1’s 1.5 mile Champion Motor Speedway and around The Loop on Woodward’s north end before heading south to the Open Hands Food Panty to drop off food and cash donations. A Corvette American flag display consisting of 51 red, 42 white and 20 blue Corvettes will also take place at M1.

Finally there’s also an invitation only Corvette generations display showcasing 1 car from each of Corvette’s 7 generations. Keep an eye out for this bloggers 1972 Corvette representing the C3 class. Harlan Charles will be bringing his latest C7 and their will be displays from Corvette Central and Aresco lifts. The cost to enter M1 is a tax deductible $10 donation. The all new M1 concourse is located at 45671 Woodward, Pontiac, Michigan.

After cruising Woodward head on over to the Moose Preserve Bar and Grill (43034 North Woodward) for some good old fashioned bench racing and general socializing

Thursday August 18th kicks off at 10am with a tour of The Lingenfelter Collection. There is no cost for the tour, but donations to the Lingenfelter foundation are encouraged. The Lingenfelter Collection is located at 7819 Lochlin Drive, Brighton, Michigan.

Thursday night you can head over to the Bahama Breeze at 539 East Big Beaver Road, Troy, Michigan for dinner and some more Corvette camaraderie. After that head back to the M1 Concourse for a drive in movie hosted by Optima Batteries. More details to come on this fun event.

Friday, August 19th at 10am head on over to the Webber Wild life Museum. The owner has been a big game hunter for over 50 years and has a fantastic collect of live mount animals all set in natural settings. The Webber Wild Life Museum is located at 4710 Morley Drive, Clinton Township, Michigan.

Tours of Katech Performance will take place Friday afternoon and details for these are still coming together as we went to press. If tours aren’t your thing for Friday then head over to Woodward Avenue where all the action of the Woodward Dream Cruise will be in full swing. Then head back on Saturday August 20th for all of the official Dream Cruise activities run from 9am – 9pm.

  1. This is my first your in 65 years and it a 2003 Corvette 50th conv. And I love everyone said you never have the top up God did not make this car for the top up it don,t go out in the rain I just love and love to see places on here to talk about them and to find used parts think Jim Hembree
