Throwback Thursday: USA Women's Soccer Goalie Hope Solo Drives the Brickyard Corvette Pace Car

Last weekend, millions of Americans watched as the USA Women’s Soccer team defeated Japan to win the FIFA World Cup, the first time the team has won the cup since 1999. Shutting down the opposition throughout the tournament was goalie Hope Solo, who recorded five shut-outs and allowed only three goals.

In today’s Throwback Thursday, we go all the way back to when the goalie drove the Corvette Grand Sport Pace Car at NASCAR’s 2011 Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

[Operation Air Flow] Episode 4: Name That Tune

Late last summer we partnered up with CORSA Performance and Smokey’s Dyno and Performance on our Operation Air Flow project as a way to show some easy ways to get more power out of your Corvette. We began with a CORSA carbon fiber intake on our 2009 C6 and then backed that up with a CORSA Sport performance exhaust system. For Episode 4, we headed back to Smokey’s for a custom ECM tune to help get the most out our freer breathing LS3.

Two people inside a blue C4 Corvette escaped serious injury after being hit head-on by an alleged drunk driver in a white four-door sedan in Fountain Hills, Arizona on Sunday afternoon.

Both cars erupted into flames after the crash, but fortunately bystanders helped get everyone out of the vehicles before further tragedy struck.

A 72-year-old man’s dream car turned out to be a nightmare this week.

James Rogers of Port Arthur, Texas and his dog Leia apparently died of heat exhaustion Monday afternoon when they became trapped inside his 2007 Corvette.

Justice of the Peace Marc Derouen pronounced Rogers dead and ordered an autopsy. Police do not suspect suicide or foul play.

Suspected Drunk Driver in a C6 Corvettes Crashes Twice in Ohio

Despite being in two crashes back to back, the driver of this white C6 Corvette managed to escape injury over the Memorial Day holiday weekend in Ohio.

The first crash occurred on Denlinger Road in Trotwood about 11:30 p.m. Sunday when the Corvette hit a Chevy Impala head on, pinning the driver inside the Impala.
