This or That: Six-Figure Modded Corvettes: Valarra C6 vs Pandem C8

Recently here at your Detroit Bureau, we’ve found ourselves with some extra time on our hands. With that, we’ve found ourselves spending an exorbitant amount of time perusing the interwebs looking at Corvettes for sale. While we currently have no business looking at anything to add to the garage, we did stumble across a couple of wild Corvettes currently for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

In this episode of This or That, we take a look at a 2009 Valarra C6 Corvette and a 2020 Pandem Widebody C8. Both of these cars represent the boldest of the bold body kits available in their respective generations. Each is a significant departure from their stock forms, and both carry six-figure price tags.

Like the 1953 Corvettes, the 3LT Pandem C8 is finished in white over a red interior. That’s where the similarities end, though. From there it was massaged with a widebody kit, squared wheel openings, and a massive rear wing. Michelin tires wrap gold and carbon fiber Rohana Forged wheels. Exposed fasteners and even more carbon fiber complete the aggressive look of this C8. Inside, we see an interior that remains pretty much stock in appearance.

Even though the ad is quite succinct, we do learn that the car also features just 3,873 miles, IPE exhaust, and an air suspension. The seller also notes a clean fax. This wild C8 is listed for sale at $105,000 out of Palatine, Illinois.

Valarra C6 Corvette

The 2009 Valarra C6 is an interesting contrast to the Pandem C8. The edgy body kit leaves little evidence of the C6 that was once there. Browsing the photos, it appears to have begun life as a base red coupe. The exaggerated styling makes this thing look like something out of a comic book. There are so many curves, edges, and openings that’s it’s hard to figure out where to point your eyes first. The ad doesn’t provide any detail on the wheel and tire setup, but we can easily see that they’re huge – like cartoonish huge. We’re liking the blue color which contrasts nicely with the black interior.

This listing provides even less detail than the C8, but it does tell us that it’s running a cammed, supercharged engine with 805 horsepower. It can be yours for $115,000 and a road trip to Cordova, Tennessee.

So, based on the limited info we have on each car, which one would you pick? Given the unique looks of each, you already know that your neighbor doesn’t have one and you’ll be the talk of the next Cars and Coffee as soon as you arrive.

The last public sale we found of a Pandem C8 was at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in 2021 for $148,500 and we weren’t able to find a public sale of a Valarra C6. Either way, you know these builds weren’t cheap which is reflected the asking prices. So, if you’ve got $100k burning a hole in your pocket, here are 2 unique options for you.

  1. The bad boy Vallara Corvette is the custom Corvette for me. I’ve been intrigued by it and wanted one since it was featured at SEMA a few years ago. I don’t give a damn if anybody hates it.

  2. Looks like both were built in Mexico. Just need the big chrome muffler hanging under the car.

  3. Neither. Take a Corvette and make it into something else? These drastic departures from the original styling don’t make them better. Now a Jeff Hayes restomod C2? That’s as far as I would want to go, his cars still look like Corvettes.
