While perusing the Corvette Forum a couple days ago we stumbled across a thread created by member “Zuendler” who recently took his 1969 Corvette through the Italian, Austrian, and Swiss Alps. We always love hearing these stories about owners driving their cars on long journeys and his breath-taking photos intrigued us even more. No passport is needed to see more shots and a video from his incredible trip after the jump.
So who’s your pick for America’s Ultimate Street Car?
One possible contender for the title at this year’s highly anticipated OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational coming up in less than a month is this awesome 1967 Corvette owned by Jeff Cleary, whose creation has been featured on the cover of prominent magazines for years.
The former director of GM Performance and assistant Corvette chief engineer, John Heinricy, offers up his predictions and hopes for the C7 Corvette and reflects on the past generations of America’s Sports Car during the current episode of The Downshift, which appears each Tuesday on the new Motor Trend YouTube channel.
We’ve featured a lot of fast and powerful Corvettes here on CorvetteBlogger.com. Way back in 2009 we first told you about Rod Saboury’s wicked street legal 1963 Corvette drag car. The 2,600 horsepower (no, that’s not a typo) monster will run the quarter mile in a scant 6.75 seconds. That’s just about how long it took the car to earn the title of the World’s Fastest Street Legal Car. If you’re looking for something to drive 1 kid to school, make an ice cream run, or just take a brief ¼ mile drive you’re in luck as the car is currently for sale on eBay.

Not much remains intact on the passenger’s side of a red C6 Corvette convertible involved in a crash Thursday with a minivan on the Mediterranean island of Malta (which is 50 miles south of Sicily), but miraculously the driver of the sports car walked away without a scratch.
We threw a picture of this 2007 Corvette Z06 up on our Facebook page last week and since it got a tremendous response there with nearly 500 likes, we figured it was worth a more in-depth review. Besides, we love double-threat custom as much as the next guy. Not only does this Corvette Z06 feature a gorgeous exterior, it also received some serious engine mods as well.
When it comes to racing, Corvettes have a storied history. Highlights on their racing resume include wins at Daytona, Sebring, and LeMans, the C4 Corvette Challenge Series, and ALMS dominance over the last decade. In the ShakeDown episode after the break, host Leo Parente takes a brief look at Corvette Racing from its inception all the way up the recent American Le Mans Series GTE title and the Grand-Am Engine Manufacturers Championship in the Corvette Daytona Prototypes.
A dream is literally coming true for Dean Tarkowski as he restores a 1966 Corvette owned by his late father.
“After his death (from cancer in 2009), I was going through some items in his attic and came across some things I dreamed I would find,” Tarkowski says.
I’ve always been a bit of a George Clooney fan – the Oceans 11 franchise and the Fabulous Mr. Fox are among our Clooney favorites here at the CorvetteBlogger compound. So it was cool to see the actor has a thing for Corvettes as well.
This Saturday, he was spotted cruising about tinsel town in the classic American sports car – a red/white C1 Corvette. Check out Clooney looking like a million bucks in his little red Corvette after the jump.
