On Friday, August 18th, Corvette history was made at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan. As part of their annual Woodward Dream Show, they assembled the first-ever gathering of Corvettes from every single model year. Collectively, the group made up their special Corvette 70th anniversary display.
70 years and 71 Corvettes
This display was special for a number or reasons, but it may be most remembered for 1 car in particular. That special car was the lone 1983 Corvette that made the trek up to Michigan from Bowling Green. We’re told that this was the first time that the 1983 car had ever left the National Corvette Museum.

The rest of the collection was an eclectic throng of Corvette’s 70-year history. Rarely optioned and special edition cars were seen throughout. Others were highly awarded cars within the NCRS and Bloomington Gold organizations. Several were low mile originals and others had been driven often and enjoyed thoroughly. We also got to see many of the options, features, and special editions that helped make Corvettes so special over the years. We saw fuelies, big blocks, pace cars, anniversary editions, and more. Don’t forget legendary options like L71, LT1, Z06, and ZR1. If that wasn’t enough, the Mako Shark, Aero Vette, and Transformers Concept were on display separately inside the conference center.
The cars were organized neatly by year in front of the M1 Concourse Event Center and greeted eager visitors as soon as they jumped off the parking lot shuttles. Each generation then had a white Corvette of the respective generation’s first model year placed right in front of the given group. Most of those had red interiors just like the 1953 Corvette. Coincidentally, the white 1983 Corvette ended up almost exactly front and center of the whole display. When completed, it was a cathartic walk through 7 decades of Corvette. A special Corvette moment for sure.

We’ve got some new spy pics and a quick video of a group of C8 Corvette prototypes to share today. These test cars were spied in the familiar stomping grounds in the town of Marietta, Ohio, which is located in Southeastern corner of the state. We appreciate our friends David Wesel and David Haas sending us these photos and video of the encounter.
Back in the late ’70s, I could have bought great C2 Corvettes all day long for $3,000 – but thought I had to have the latest, greatest new models instead. Gee, wonder which would have been the smartest investment?

Hello Corvette friends. Hope everyone has been having a spectacular summer like we have been here at CorvetteBlogger’s Detroit Bureau. It’s been a busy one here for sure. In between car shows and assorted activities with our 2 unpaid interns, I’ve once again purchased an old Corvette, smoothed out the rough edges, and have been running it through Bloomington Gold and NCRS judging. Sounds a lot like 2018 and my Targa Blue 1972 Corvette, huh?
Last week the Corvette Assembly Plant managed to do something that has only been accomplished twice before in the 70-year history of the Chevrolet Corvette. Workers at the assembly plant have surpassed 50,000 Corvettes for the model year. Our actual count including Monday’s production total now stands at 50,298 for the 2023 model year.

When we last checked in with our friend Matt of the RearWheelDrive YouTube channel, he was visiting Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory for some fun racing action against a modified Porsche 911 Turbo S. Matt is back at the track and this time he is going up against a McLaren 570S.

DETROIT (Aug. 22, 2023) – After coming tantalizingly close a year ago, Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor get another shot at their second victory together at Virginia International Raceway on Sunday in the Michelin GT Challenge, the ninth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
