[VIDEO] 2023 Corvette Z06 Races a McLaren 570s at the Drag Strip

When we last checked in with our friend Matt of the RearWheelDrive YouTube channel, he was visiting Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory for some fun racing action against a modified Porsche 911 Turbo S. Matt is back at the track and this time he is going up against a McLaren 570S.

Matt’s black Z06 Corvette is currently in the process of being wrapped with Matt doing the job himself. He says he didn’t want to bring out the car looking like this, but it was the only opportunity he would have to race against his friend before the McLaren goes into the shop for some mods.

When it comes to the two cars, Matt tells us the Corvette Z06 has a considerably quicker 0-60 mph time than the McLaren, however, the exotic 570S is several hundred pounds lighter and makes up that speed difference on the top end. Sure enough, we saw that on the first run as Matt was able to get the jump on the McLaren driver who was still setting up his car when the light turned green. Even though it looks like Matt takes that first race because of his reaction time, the McLaren still came out on top.

The second race shows that just how fast the McLaren is after the driver nails the reaction time, leaving the Z06 to finish a couple of car lengths behind. In that race, the McLaren ran 10.56 @131 MPH vs the Z06 at 11.00 seconds at 127 MPH.

One of the details Matt says he needs to work on is warming up the tires in the burnout box and he’s able to get one in prior to the third race. When the light goes green, both drivers take off at nearly the same time with Matt exclaiming “It’s a race, baby, it’s a race,” but seconds later as the McLaren pulls ahead Matt says “Oh, it’s not a race…!”
