Around metro Detroit, the summer cruising season is a lot like the holiday season as it builds to Christmas day. The big difference is that here we count down to the Woodward Dream Cruise and all its ancillary events that have popped up over the years.

Once of the newest events is the Woodward Dream Show held at the M1 Concourse. As they call it, the Woodward Dream Show “is a significant hot rod, custom, cruiser, and muscle car show with a focus on featured classes, marques, and a celebration of car enthusiasm in the heart of the Motor City.” The show features a rotating theme each year. For 2023, they’ve recently announced that they’ll be celebrating Corvette’s 70th birthday in addition to MOPAR and Ramchargers 65th anniversary. This year’s big show takes place on Friday, August 18th, the day before the big Woodward Dream Cruise.

The highlight of the Corvette portion of the event will be a massive display right in front of the event center featuring 1 Corvette from each year of production. This is first display of this type that we’ve heard of so far in Corvette’s 70th year. Thanks to a chance encounter with GM’s Mark Reuss, they’ve also been given permission to borrow the 1983 Corvette from the National Corvette Museum. We’re told that this will be the first time it’s been out of the NCM’s hands. The admission price alone is worth cost to see the priceless piece of Corvette history.

In addition to the 28-class people’s choice car show, attendees can also take ridealongs with professional drivers on the M1 racetrack and enjoy an afterhours concert. Various food and beverage options will be available throughout the day as will several kids’ activities. You’ll likely find us at the RC car track. Additionally, the Insider’s Garage Symposium will cover some of the amazing “car condos” located on the M1 grounds.

All show cars must be preregistered and approved by M1. Click here to submit your ride. Once at the show, all 650 cars will be arranged neatly by class around the M1 grounds. The Corvettes in the 70th anniversary display will be displayed in front of the event center and selected closer to the actual event. We’ve already submitted a couple of our Detroit Bureau rides for consideration and hopefully you’ll see them at the show.

The M1 Concourse is a car and motorsports playground located on the north end of historic Woodward Avenue. From the custom garages and brand-new events center to the 1.5-mile road course, M1 has everything for the diehard gearhead in all of us. Their monthly Cars and Coffee events routinely draw thousands of cars and attendees on the first Saturday of each month.
