Matt from the RearWheelDrive YouTube channel recently picked up a new Black 2023 Corvette Z06 and with just a little over 800 miles on the odometer, he finds himself at Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory for a bit of fun both off and on the track.
The idea was to come up, run the C8Z on the dyno, and then perhaps maybe make a quick run on the same oval track where Matt previously won a round of the Spectator Drags. However, Cleetus has some other ideas as he brings out “the wife’s car,” a modded Porsche 911 Turbo S!
Matt and Cleetus switch cars for a moment, giving Cleetus his first drive in the new Z06, and he’s very impressed with how it pulls and handles.
Once at the Freedom Factory’s oval track, Matt does a few laps in the car and then he elects to do his very first launch control with the new car. Cleetus then joins the fun in the Porsche and the duo go racing around the track. It’s just for fun and the Porsche takes the first race, so they switch positions with the Z06 now on the outside of the track and do it again.
The next event for the Z06 is a trip to the dyno and the first run shows Max Power of 530.4 mph with Max Torque being 374.1. Not bad considering they went straight from the track to the dyno. After a 30 minute cool-down, they run the car on the dyno again, and it improves greatly with Max Power of 561.8 hp and 385.5 lb-ft of Max Torque.
Cleetus has one more challenge for the Z06 and that’s a trip to the dragstrip where the C8Z will go head-to-head with the modded twin-turbo Porsche 911. Cleetus says the cars are very similar, but he thinks the Porsche has a smidge more power and it will all depend on the launch. We’ll leave those results to those who watch the full video.

Pretty cool vid. I would take the Vette hands down with the Porsche being overrated and costs what at least twice what the Vette costs and it’s been modified. I would be embarrassed if I owned that piece of German crap. Twin turbo’s and it barely edges a STOCK ZO6. The Vette is also a thousand times better looking too.
The 911 Turbo S slightly got the C8 Z06 on the dragstrip but when it comes to styling there’s no comparison. The Z06 looks modern, sleek and super slick while the 911 has the same old, same old tired styling that looks like something that’s been squeezed out of an ass.
Every boosted sportscar, and even boosted pony cars, are going to HUMILIATE the ZO6, especially on the highway. The LT6 should have been the 2020 Stingray engine, and the ZO6 needed the Twin Turbo LT7, especially for the ridiculous prices GM is asking for C8s. I got banned on the forums for posting this obvious fact that everyone with brain knew from DAY ONE. Many owners are in for a reality check.
That name is more suited to a guy driving a jacked up pick up truck with a set of balls hanging from the trailer hitch.
