[VIDEO] C8 Corvette Z06 Crashes Hard at During Track Session at VIR

We’ve been following the on-track exploits of a 2023 Corvette Z06 owner named Marko who we have featured here several times thanks to a YouTuber named SteelAnkles.

Marko recently set the fastest time for a C8 Z06 at VIR with a 1:58.92 lap around the 3.3-mile full course. You can also watch another on-track video here, or take a ride in a Camaro ZL1 1LE as it spars with Marko’s C8 Z06 and a C7 ZR1.

For what it’s worth, Marko also was featured on CorvetteBlogger after his Z06’s engine died with 621 miles on the odometer. We remember in that video that he was working on getting it past the 1,500 miles so that it would be ready for track day.

So now that you are caught up, here is the latest. We caught wind of this track incident back at the end of June, but now SteelAnkles has a video of the crash which shows multiple views from both inside and outside the car. He then shows the incident again in slow motion. As Marko was coming up to Turn 17 the tire dropped off-track, causing him to spin into a barrier just before the entry to pit road. The car spun several times and SteelAnkles said it was totaled in the crash.

We are also glad to hear that Marko was okay following the crash. SteelAnkles said the first impact was 8.47g and then when the car spun around and hit the rear, that impact was 5.5g. Hopefully Marko will be able to recover and get back out on the track again soon.

Amazingly, after the Z06 was pulled off the track and parked, the video shows the car running and then a few revs before it ends.

  1. He’s shit outta luck if his insurance is like mine and doesn’t cover taking your Corvette on the track. This is an unfortunate example of why I would never chance taking either of my Corvettes on the track.

  2. Reading on another forum, the driver posted he had track insurance and received a check 5 weeks after the accident.
