We’ve got some new spy pics and a quick video of a group of C8 Corvette prototypes to share today. These test cars were spied in the familiar stomping grounds in the town of Marietta, Ohio, which is located in Southeastern corner of the state. We appreciate our friends David Wesel and David Haas sending us these photos and video of the encounter.

According to our spotters, the engineering team was driving three different C8 Corvette prototypes completely covered in their heavy black camouflage coverings. As they are featuring the Z06-style big wings and center quad exhaust systems, we believe these to be the upcoming Corvette ZR1. The Corvette prototypes were joined by a Hypersonic Gray 2023 Corvette Z06 with Z07 and a Suburban chase vehicle.

Unfortunately, there isn’t too much new that can be seen during this sighting, but again we always appreciate seeing the engineers out there working to make sure these prototypes will be ready for whenever they are revealed.

It’s believed that the upcoming ZR1 will drop for the 2025 model year with GM’s Mark Reuss setting that timetable. The car is expected to utilize twin turbos strapped to the Z06’s 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 which will push performance to over 800 horsepower.

From the previous sightings, we think there might be a slightly reworked front fascia for the ZR1 that will differentiate it from the Z06 and E-Ray.

We do know that the ZR1 will have its own set of wheels, as the prototypes are currently hiding whatever they will be. We may have seen the new wheels leaked previously, but won’t know for sure until they are revealed to the public. And finally, the price of the ZR1 is expected to fall somewhere around $150K.

  2. Bob , unfortunately companies have to make a living and these cars have gotten expensive the last generations. It is still a monster car and is equal or better than any from around the world.
