Fifth in GTD PRO, ninth in GTD category for No. 3 Corvette
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (June 24, 2023) – Corvette Racing will roll off from the third row of the GTD PRO grid Sunday for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen – the fifth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – following a challenging qualifying session Saturday.
Some Corvettes just have that certain “oomph” about them, more so than others.
Maybe it’s the 15-inch American Racing mag wheels that do the trick for this 1959 roadster, or maybe it’s the menacing black paint with contrasting silver coves.

While it has become simpler and simpler to become downtrodden when thinking about the monotonous, one-size-fits-all automotive future that “our betters” have envisioned for us, there is a glowing silver lining staring us in the face in the here and now. Engineers are treating almost every new gas-powered performance car like it will be their last, and it truly feels like anything can happen! It might be taken for granted after four years of production, but when you really stop to think about it, this is incredible; we live in a time when the mythical mid-engine Corvette is a reality! In Germany, Porsche has also done what was once unthinkable by ceasing all efforts to protect the sacred 911 by hobbling its more-balanced little brother. Even a Lotus brand that has been almost exclusively serving customers heated over intellectual property in the Elise/Exige and Evora since 1996, 2000, and 2009, respectively, has managed to craft a new sendoff ICE sports car.

The Instagram account for General Motors Design is usually focused on sharing various sketches and designs created by designers for different projects, or sometimes just for fun. But this week the official GM account did something really cool and that was to share these two behind-the-scenes looks at the photo shoots for the 2024 Corvette E-Ray which produced the official photos that were shared during January’s launch of the first performance hybrid Corvette.
Excitement was in the air when we first spotted this 1970 Corvette that has reportedly been sitting in a barn for 32 years.
That is, until we saw the photo of that horrific custom front end added sometime over the past 53 years. About the best thing about the change is that the new owner won’t have to worry about the finicky vacuum-operated headlight covers – of course, that is, until they decide to return the car back to its original hidden-headlight appearance.
