Corvettes for Sale: 1970 Corvette Barn Find Stored for 32 Years

Excitement was in the air when we first spotted this 1970 Corvette that has reportedly been sitting in a barn for 32 years.

That is, until we saw the photo of that horrific custom front end added sometime over the past 53 years. About the best thing about the change is that the new owner won’t have to worry about the finicky vacuum-operated headlight covers – of course, that is, until they decide to return the car back to its original hidden-headlight appearance.

On the bright side, any chrome-bumper ’70 is worth saving in our opinion, since only 10,668 T-top coupes like this one were produced at the St. Louis factory, due to a decision to extend ’69 production by several months and then a UAW strike. Furthermore, the car’s interior remains stock and still in fairly decent condition, with the original steering wheel, acceptable dash, radio, and all trim still in place. On the other hand, the console is cracked, and paint is gone from the door jamb (of course, the car will likely be painted by a new owner).

More potentially good news is that the drivetrain is said to be numbers-matching – with a four-speed manual and stock shifter in place, along with the original 350/300 horsepower small-block V8 still residing but currently not running under the hood, which by the way has been switched to a big-block hood. We also noticed that the front half of the car appears to be a lighter shade of white than the rest of the car, which again really doesn’t matter since a new paint job is likely on the way for this vintage Stingray, and that the replacement hood either isn’t latched completely or is badly out of alignment.

With more-polished examples of these ’70s going for around $30,000, there’s room for some renovations to this one that’s being offered for $12,500 on craigslist in Geneseo, New York.

“A great car that needs a little loving care,” claims the current owner, “but you will be very happy with what you end up with.”

  1. The headlights look just like the ones on the Duntov Turbo Corvette and I always thought they looked ugly as sin.
